I actually think its better than kotor, the areas are bigger the combat is more engaging but can still be pretty boring, plus the overall story is really good and so are the side quests.

If i had to make one bad comment it its that you still don't have any real choice, the story goes in one direction and what you say is still light/ dark choices.

(Regarding the texture popping mentioned on Page 13 that I'm too lazy to quote from)

I've seen it in every new Unreal engine game so far. I was very dissapointed to find that Gears did it when I brought it home on launch day. Then Bioshock which uses the same engine... I wasn't aware that Mass Effect used that engine too. Dissapointing.

Having played Assassins Creed, I see that it's totally possible to stream beutiful detailed textures on the 360 without forcing them to pop-in. I suppose Epic can't be bothered to tweak their engine accordingly? Or maybe it's a limitation in the engine? I also noticed it with the PC version (demo) of Bioshock, so it doesn't seem to be platform specific.

In any event, I'm willing to snag it on launch day and find out for myself.

Adding on to this -- it's not just that the options are pretty distinctly divided between Good / Neutral / Evil, but also that it's hard to know what Shepard will actually *say* once you pick an option.

In my case, I'm trying to play an Evil... err, Renegade character. Most of the time when you pick the Renegade option, Sheperd will actually say something relatively normal, but just from a more Renegade point of view. Sometimes, he'll say something equivalent to "I'm here to murder your pets," straight out of KOTOR 1. That happens just often enough that I keep to a lot of Neutral choices just so my character doesn't sound like a total dickhead.

Well, right, it's a great idea to make the player interested in the dialog--but if you can't tell what your character is going to respond with when you pick an option it's not a good solution to that problem at all--and Byron is saying that there are times when he couldn't really tell what his character was going to do based on the prompt he chose to in the dialog. i.e. he wanted him to make a dickish remark, thought that's what he would do based on the snippet onscreen and instead the character busts out the gun and starts yelling at somebody.

I think its impossible for someone to innocently guess and end up with their character waving a gun around as someone else said.
