CyberPunk 2077 - It's Ready when its Ready

Since 2077 is on sale, I gotta ask: On a scale ranging from "Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 9 months after release" to "Witcher 3 two years after release," where does it fall? And is it even worth it with a rig with an i9 from 2016, a 1070, and 32GB of ram?

Elite : Dangerous .... Space is big

A-rated sensors are great for farming NPC’s in RES instances and not losing track of that juicy python while you chase an Elite eagle for the combat rank.

Gaming thoughts, bite-size chewables - new orange flavor!

Is Skyrim on the Switch at all worth it for someone who loved a heavily-modded Morrowind but has never played Skyrim? I'm curious, but playing a Bethesda game without mods seems... suspect.

Pro tip everyone: if the only thing I see from you on my Steam feed is you wishlisting and buying loli Anime VR jerk-off games... I’m probably going to unfriend you. (Not directed at anyone, just a reminder that seeing that on my feed constantly... makes me question...)

    Star Wars: Squadrons

The very first screen you see on the PC version is a rich and detailed list of accessibility options. For a crunchy space combat sim in 2020. They want everyone to be able to enjoy this game. I can't help but view this as a giant (and very welcome) "Fuck You" to the hideously toxic GITGUD...

Gaming thoughts, bite-size chewables - new orange flavor!

If you still have the cloud save and decide to go back and try, you're about 10-20 minutes away from one of my favorite action sequences in gaming. Ask yourself, "Would I like to role-play as a psychotic, homicidal Mario who is roided out and thirsts only for Koopa blood?" If so, give it a half...

I would never call Space Marine "deep." Delightfully loud and almost laughably-pornographic in its violence? Yes, absolutely - hence why I'm loving it as a palate cleanser.

In case you were wondering: Space Marine still rocks in its sheer frenetic mayhem. Those jump pack sections really are some of the best action set pieces of the last ten years.

Gaming thoughts, bite-size chewables - new orange flavor!

After the last few months of slow, deliberate gaming (Twilight Imperium, Elite, STALKER games, Hardspace, Alien: Isolation) I realized I desperately need a change of pace. So, after having to wipe and reformat my gaming PC, I threw Doom2016 and Space Marine on. I think there's a theme here.

Rebirth of the Space Sim: Star Citizen and Squadron 42, by Chris Roberts

Know what absolutely gob smacks me? If they had *just* rushed out a high-gloss reboot of Wing Commander a few years ago they could have used that as a money maker AND proof of concept where they could string out Star Citizen development into the mid 2020's. Then all the whales could directly...

    UPS Advice

Hey, I just got done talking with APC tech support. Per them, the UPS is toast. Already ordered a new one - but this time trying another brand. After doing some deep googling into their forums I saw lots of people with the same issue... but no answers from APC.

    UPS Advice

The unit is just shy of five years. The new battery is the exact same model of APC battery as previous. When I installed and charged it it was getting a solid 120v in and out. Then, a few days ago, intermittent clicking, now heat and failure.

    UPS Advice

A few weeks ago I started getting random clicking on my APC UPS (BR1500G) . It then started getting very hot, then failed. I contacted APC who said that my battery was old. So, I got a new battery, and the same clicking / battery failure / intermittent power drop keeps happening? Is there...

Elite : Dangerous .... Space is big

It also really depends what you want out of your exploration ship. If you want the full "5-year mission" package an Anaconda gives you all the slots you need to remain perpetually in the void. That said... it's a bit big and slow with a huge nose. I've done long runs in a Conda, an Asp, a...

    HOTAS and VR setup recommendations

I got a cheap office chair and a pair of VESA mounting brackets that I latched to the arms. With some heavy duty Velcro and some Velcro zip ties I managed to create quite a useful flight chair for my twin stick setup for about 80-odd dolllars. PM if you’d like me to send you a pic.

Elite will occupy your time for a bit. The mission design is naff, but the flight model is superbly tactile with plenty of depth. DCS has a free module, IIRC.

    PC VR tech & games

I got EVE: Valkyrie in the summer sale, and I've put about an hour into the single-player missions. I gotta ask: does the combat get any deeper or more tactile? It's a lot of pretty, shiny blasting, but I'm not sure I want to keep it because feels a bit shallow in comparison to Elite.
