This was a great episode (The Field Where I Died). Very good acting by the actress from Space: Above and Beyond (SAAB) for the multiple personalities, and I thought the resolution of the past lives of Mulder and the character played by the SAAB was very sad.

People into crypto seem to be good at inflating numbers. So this mismatch doesn't seem like a surprise. Probably a more mundane explanation - there can be so many Mastodon instances, and there is no centralization, that I suspect it is hard to keep an up to date count.
