back on the eating babies part... I am not even sure that is crazy enough to be 100% fake.

There is this guy who injection his son's blood and he is only millionaire.

There is also a long held myth that placenta help with anti-aging. Jumping to babies eating is not as crazy given what we know how some of these people thinking already.

You want to sail very, very carefully in these waters. There's an ancient antisemitic trope about Jews eating babies that lie at the root of a lot of the accusations from QAnon and other conspiracy whackjobs about people they don't like. These stories are probably right in line with concerns about globalists and (((them))).

Not to offend anyone, but does the slander that Jews eat babies come from the tradition of the rabbi performing circumcisions with his teeth?

The traditional claims (if you can call it that) that go back to pre-medieval times is that Jews need the blood of Christians, especially babies, to perform various rituals. There's some speculation that Christians basically took the same propaganda that was spread about them by the Romans, and used it to persecute Jews.

Thanks for the clarification! Seems ironic that Jews would need the blood of Christians considering Christianity didn’t exist when Judaism was created.

Especially as Christianity is founded on a Jewish man bleeding for them. Which Catholics, at the least, consume literally per their own dogma

Is Warren Buffett the only famous "normal" billionaires around? He still do a lot of anti-consumers/workers things on how his companies is run, but at least within the realm of normal business level of "bad".

Or famous usually equals to lost sense of right vs. wrong?
I'm pretty sure George Soros is also "normal".

Yes, it is. After all, just because they think that injecting the blood of children is healthy, doesn't imply they think that eating them is. Again, this is the kind of reasoning that leads one to conclude that the moon landings must be fake. After all, jumping to faking the moon landing is not so crazy given what we know about how J. Edgar Hoover and the CIA behaved during the 50s and 60s. Which is why that line of reasoning is just broken. With it you can prove it's reasonable to believe they have done anything. It's a twisted mirror don't use it. Instead, demand specific evidence.

I mean, uneducated people typically don't think the past was all that different from the present. The default assumption is that pretty much everything that is, was forever and will be forevermore.

Here's the thing: raping school girls, kidnapping, and the murder of infants are all linked through motive: rich people want to get their rocks off without consequences, consent be damned. That thoroughly explains why those particular crimes seem to have plenty of evidence. But, that explanation doesn't really work for cannibalism. As a result, while it makes sense to suspect that the slavery, rape, and murder is much deeper than we know, it doesn't suggest that cannibalism is likely.

And, as I observed earlier, cannibalism is one of the oldest political smears. As such, we need specific evidence to corroborate such accusations before we start to assume that it's likely. Realistically, the benefit of the doubt isn't so much for the potential perpetrators. Instead it's an epistemic necessity to keep us grounded in something reasonably close to reality. The only real alternative is to loose ourselves in the conspiracy minded fantasy land where the moon landing are faked and the earth is flat. We don't need to become just a reflection of QAnon though a similarly twisted mirror.

I am not talking about believing in QAnon fantasies. What I am talking about is recognizing the longstanding culture of the US when it comes to what people are willing to do to those who they have power over. Like in the cause of Claude Neil when thousands of Americans came to watch a man be lynched, made him eat is own genitalia, had their children torture him, and sold his dismembered and mutilated remained as keepsakes. This is what Americans did in public. Do you think the some of the most wealthy, powerful, and evil people on this planet, steeped in the same culture, with greater senses of entitlement and proof no one would ever, ever, hold them accountable for anything would do anything less? We don’t have to look at antisemitic conspiracies and propaganda to ground potential horrors in a real life precedent.

Are the hundreds of anonymous FBI complaints legitimate? I can’t say one way or the other. i think it’s probable most of them are unfounded. Do I think it’s likely that there is some evidence of equivalently awful things in the custody of the justice department? I think, based on the historic precedent of how men like Trump treat those beneath them, it would be odd if there weren’t.

We do not owe these people the benefit of the doubt.

Obviously horrible things do happen. But, this line of thinking is still broken because unless you give them the benefit of the doubt, every accusation of every different horror they might have committed is indistinguishable. Again, it's a twisted mirror that gives people permission to believe the thing they want to be true must be true. The only thing that can prevent you from doing that is to give every accusation the benefit of the doubt until specific corroborated evidence is provided. After which, the historic behavior of powerful men gives you pretty good reason to suspect that the accusation is likely. But, without the specific corroborated evidence, simply for the sake of our ability to know things, we must provide the benefit of the doubt to absolutely everyone. Without that, there is no shield from the lies of the powerful.

Oh, and, it's worth noting: it's most important to give people the benefit of the doubt when you really want them to be guilty. After all, that is when you are most vulnerable to losing your grip on reality. It's when someone really really wants to believe their world is some particular way (usually, under control) that they tend to discard reason and fall into conspiracy.

And that we need blood to make matzah, which - if you're ever had any - is the most tasteless food known to mankind.

But logic doesn't apply to these kinds of things.

Now see, that one actually makes sense. The reason why it is tasteless is because they can no longer properly source the blood. But back in the day...

I think personally it was an Israeli op which Russia either coopted or infiltrated.
Piecing the scraps together, some people are claiming that Epstein started his career and connections by starting at Bear Stearns in the BCCI department. That was the department responsible for hiding CIA financial operations and aquisitions. This is the source for Epstein's connections into CIA, high US government, high finance, Mossad and Saudi Arabia finance/intelligence community. It is also an explanation for why everything surrounding Epstein is so opaque and why as a recurring theme one can see that Epstein's professional services were "complex transactions".

People interested can google Bear Stearns and BCCI.

This is atleast a sensible explanation into how Epstein came into being, and how he managed without veering into conspiracy theories. It also explains why he always appeared to have a protective hand hovering over him.

Well this is just damn odd. Yes is could be that it was just a clerical error. But this statement was dated the day before Epstein was found dead on August 10th. And some of the autopsy files were released and the ligature marks around his neck are not consistent with bed-sheet suffocation.

I am not one to be all conspiracy dude and all, but man something materially really does not add up here.

That memo is apparently present 23 times in the files. While it may simply be a typo, it's certainly going to feed those theories of him being murdered. It's not all that conspiracy minded when you combine it with the cameras magically failing and footage being erased ("not saved").

Occam's razor: the date might have been auto-inserted into the header and the computer in question was using an incorrect date. Given that government computers likely have restrictions on network access that might interfere with network time syncing, it's not the craziest explanation.

Oh no doubt. However given how everything in the files are a complete labyrinth of craziness at the bare minimum everything deserves extra scrutiny.

The sad reality is there are MANY powerful people that would not wanted their information to see the light of day. From their perspective at the time he was the primary source of that information. It is not an impossible scenario to consider that his death was not as it was ruled. Linking to a fox news article below of his injuries and I can say being a former EMT who has seen two self-hangings from sheets or clothing those marks are not consistent for what I have personally seen in the field. They are too concentrated in areas. You'd expect to see more wide brusing.

Now I am not a medical professional anymore, and it's not like I am an expert in the first place. But given this evidence, given the inconsistency of the paperwork, given everything else, it is at least deserving of a far more thorough independent investigation by experts. It could be simple macro date issues, it could be something more nefarious.

Insane to think that people that need a lot of accountability and security would be on computers with incorrect time/date.

Generally computers will not be able to gain access to secure resources if their time or date is wrong.

If I'm understanding it correctly the date is part of the press release. Meaning it was typed in, not an indicator of system time.

I'm generally an anti-conspiracy guy. But between the totally deleted footage that wasn't deleted, the malfunctioning cameras, and just everything its pretty hard to say something wasn't fishy.

Yeah. This is fishy as duck.
But no smoking gun. Those document macros/engines are hodgepodge duct-taped heaps of manure. Inserting a wrong date is one of the smaller errors...

Another fishy thing: it can be seen on earlier photos that Epstein had tattoos on his right arm. They were missing in the autopsy pictures. It could be that he regularly applied tattoo stickers, though.

Also, before jumping to conclusions, Epstein had enough powerful contacts (including e.g. Netanyahu) who could have ordered the hit.

The even simpler explanation is that the memo itself is fake. Given all the attention around his death, all it would take is one person forging a memo like the above just to rile up the conspiracy theorists, and it would spread around like wildfire and get submitted to the tip line by dozens of people. This is why provenance and the chain of custody for evidence is important.

Sad to see Ars becoming a hot-bed of conspiracy nonsense. You don't actually know anything, but yet something must be fishy. That's conspiracy-thinking, plain and simple. After all this time, you'd think some actual evidence of something would have shown up if it existed. Yet it hasn't. These conspirators are always so effortlessly competent at keeping wide-ranging conspiracies under wraps, but somehow simultaneously incompetent in their coverups.

Kinda hard to compile all the evidence when you have an administration actively redacting, deleting, or doing worse of said evidence.

they are literally hiding data on people talking about the exploitation of children and not limited to the president. This isn’t even in dispute.

There are just too much stuff include a lot of junkies/fakes in the information released. One thing is sure is that Epstein got a very nice deal for his initial arrest. His "friends" did not keep a distance from him after his initial arrest. We still do not know he get rich and what kind of services he actually provided. There is also the leads about how he get his initial nice deal also.

If he is connect to the intelligence community, that would mean a lot of intelligence operators/officers have turned a blind eye to his crimes.

Super high profile case.
Has compromising photos and dirt on billionaires and politicians in power around the world.
Psychiatrist reports he is not suicidal.
Cellmate released the day prior.
Guards failed to perform their regular checks that night.
Suddenly commits suicide.
Cameras somehow didn't work and "didn't save" footage that night.
Memo predates actual death.
Government continues to withhold actual evidence, even in violation of the law.

Suggesting that something is fishy isn't "conspiracy thinking", it's just observation. If someone were investigating, the set of evidence would cause them to look further into it because there's undoubtedly cause to look into that line of thinking.

Locally, there's been quite a bit of digging around Epstein's connections with local billionaire Les Wexner (of Limited Brands/Victoria's Secret/Bath & Body Works, etc fame). Wexner's name is all over Ohio State's campus, with numerous buildings and even the hospital named after him after many millions of donations to the university. There's a whole web to untangle with Epstein, Wexner, OSU, but on to the real point of the post...

Some intrepid Redditors in the Columbus subreddit found in the latest file drop that Epstein had an OSU gynecologist on retainer (at $25k/quarter) with emails discussing the payments and FedEx billing receipts for the quarterly packages sent to the doctor.

Honestly at this point I think it's time to take this out of the hands of the DOJ entirely and found an international investigation/court ala Nuremberg to deal with this shit.

Just find some prosecutor completely unconnected to anyone on those files with a solid track record of going against those kind of people, dump a few tens of millions budget on them and let them cook. I doubt you'd even need to get countries to pony up the budget, I'm sure they'd get all the money they'd need on day two of a public kickstarter at this point.
