Trump's Fed chair pick named in Epstein files just hours after his nomination

According to The New Republic, "Warsh’s name appears to be on an emailed list of guests to 'St. Barth’s Christmas 2010,' among others such as Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich and disgraced director Brett Ratner. Warsh also appears on a list of people attending a dinner hosted by British aristocrat William Astor."

Probably won’t derail the nomination whatsoever.

I thought Trump's name was just in the files, not that he's accused of having sexual contact with underage girls.

If this is the stuff they released to the public, what is the stuff they've redacted?

You have to wonder, I mean the infanticide allegations came out in the last batch of files, I have a pretty dark imagination but I'm still not sick enough to easily come up with anything darker than that.

Which STD though? The world need to know the color of the pus. Does Beth follow this thread?
Are there any STDs that involve worms wiggling through human flesh, preferably through human brain tissue? If yes, are there disgusting pictures to illustrate any potential article on Fridays? If yes, I'm certain Beth is on the case.

There's one flight passenger log with a "John Roberts" on it.

Seriously why would people like Gates go to this island?

They want to let their freak flag fly, they have the means to set up their own island, not go to someone else's.

There could be all kinds of kompromat opportunities. You would think their security people would warn them off.

Makes you think that maybe these billionaires and political debutantes aren't all supergeniuses.

And their security people get fired if they tell them things they don't want to hear. Their salaries* depended on not understanding how stupid associating with Epstein was, so they didn't understand it.

* And when you're associating with someone who associates with organized crime, maybe more than your livelihood.

Because what Epstein offered was access to something illicit that they want. There aren't a lot of sources for that.

Acquiring victims oneself is a lot of work and time, and not everyone has the opportunity. Any one else supplying them will be at least as dodgy and prone to blackmail as Epstein.

According to some reports, it was a full-time job for Maxwell. She was always on the lookout, and would tell the driver of whatever car she was in to stop if she saw a likely girl on the side walk. Then there'd be the grooming, which could take weeks or months. Some claim that Trump ran Mar a Lago and his beauty pageants as recruiting grounds. It's a lot of infrastructure.

The wealthiest people I know, with rare exception, are also usually the dumbest people I know.

Across the board. Investors, founders, execs, etc., etc. Usually that’s because there’s a step function in our system where innovation & ingenuity can’t clear it reliably. It takes fraud, exploitation, and/or duplicity.

I am quite literally markedly less wealthy than I otherwise would or could be because I have integrity.

Don't these things also require some level of intelligence, though? I'm always amazed reading about the latest grift - I never would have thought of it

Lack of morality is not intelligence. You never would have thought of these grifts because you were raised right, not because you were dumber than the grifters. By my lights it's the grifters that are dumb, since ordinarily they would be risking serious jail time for any of it.

I will add some Norwegians.

The Crown-princess of Norway has met Epstein several times in a somwhat flirty manner, rented his house and god knows what else. I am not surprised though, she belonged to the rave community as a commoner back in the late 90s, and she lived close to an area i am from and there were lots of men and drugs involved. She has confirmed this herself so, its not news really.
The Epstein files also contain confirmed meetings with former PMs of Norway, notably "Jagland" who has denied contact from the previous cache and now his reputation is basically destroyed, also previous ministers and in general a lot of the usual elite is mentioned as well.

Oh boy, don’t get me started. There’s a pretty direct inverse correlation between wealth and intelligence and it’s quite remarkable to watch.

I don’t know that I’m surprised by that in particular because 4chan gonna 4chan, but it seems like a relatively monetarily bankrupt place for the usual cast of characters to be palling around with.

If you can convince the American people of this it'll go a long way towards fixing a great many things.
Never going to happen. Taking advantage of other people is a positive cultural currency in the U.S. When you do a lot of Western-centric international business, it sticks out like a sore thumb in literally everything.

It creates a really effed up environment of paranoia and hyper-vigilance that becomes self-perpetuating.

I've been thinking about this. Besides those who just aren't very smart (like, Gates is clearly smart in some ways, but is absolutely the unworldly kind of person who would be dumb enough to walk into this and not figure it out until it was too late), and those who really wanted to do horrible things to young girls, I think there's also a strong peer pressure element here.

Once Epstein got several important people in his orbit and also compromised, it became important for them to ensure that other folks got compromised, because the more people that are compromised (in their mind), the less likely they get singled out.

And I think it grew to the point where if you were important enough, and refused to take part, you might even be ostracized.

Let's say you're a non-dumb, non-freak person who becomes a CEO or a Senator or a judge or whatever. Someone introduces you to Epstein at an event or whatnot. Epstein mentions he has a private island and he'd love to invite you there sometime. I mean, who doesn't want to spend time on a private island? Being invited to a private island where there are other famous/important people kind of means you've made it, right?

Let's say you really have no idea what happens there and you end up there and find out. Let's say you're smart enough not to get caught on camera doing something dumb. Do you just leave? Everyone else is clearly compromised and is going to suspect that you might hold it against them. They're incentivized not only for you to stay, but to be compromised yourself.

Let's say you find out what goes on and ignore Epstein's repeated entreaties to attend. You ignore other people saying you should go. You maybe decline to go to other gatherings where dumb stuff might happen. Again, these people are incentivized to get you into the group, but at some point the carrot goes away and the stick comes out. You get ignored at functions. You stop being invited to functions. Maybe it even gets reflected in business discussions, etc....

I'm not writing any of these to excuse these people. At all. I'm just amazed, frankly, at the empire of kompramat Epstein managed to build.

Granted I'm not rich or remotely powerful, but I decided a long time ago not to put myself somewhere I could be blackmailed or compromised.

Its demise is near for sure. You can blame Haakon for that and ask him what the fuck he was thinking, a very different person than his grandpa Olav.
But with regards to Epstein, the amount of Norwegian elites that had contact with him is kind of disturbing even if they deny it violently and i start to understand why Norwegian politics is what it is.

Everyone else is clearly compromised and is going to suspect that you might hold it against them. They're incentivized not only for you to stay, but to be compromised yourself.

...and you're disincentivised to speak out, as you'd naturally think "what lengths would they go to protect themselves?" upon realising.

After encountering some of the world's most powerful people who've already been compromised, you'll have no idea what may happen (to not just you, but also your friends and family) if you were to risk it all by ratting them out. Given the suspicious circumstances under which some people who had dealings with Epstein had died (alongside the very suspicious death of Epstein himself) that tells you everything you need to know about how real the threat was.

It would not be very surprising if some of the people who harmed victims were also victims themselves, who only took part in evil deeds out of fear of even worse things happening to them if they didn't. Would not surprise me if they got drugged out of their minds against their will too.

Not trying to defend any of what the perps did (it's indefensible) but everything about this reeks of misdirection.

A massive number of these people were starting to engage with or still engaging with Epstein years AFTER he’d already been convicted of sex trafficking the first time.

That angle of it is kind of insidious. Since the first plea deal was pretty well covered up, it gave the government (or anyone else in on it) leverage to embarrass such people whether or not they were aware.

I think it's pretty reasonable that you may not find out. Sure, you go there and see young-ish women, but (1) not everyone is under 18, so some are going to be in their 20s, and (2) the underage girls on the island were apparently 16-17, not 12 -- so it's not like you can easily tell among the attendees who are likely dressed up and wearing makeup. At that point, it's like a lot of other exclusive parties: influential men surrounded by much younger and more attractive women. Heck, doesn't need to be an exclusive party, just go to a fancy bar in New York, London, or really any major city and a scene like in Macam's photo is going to be everywhere (except with women wearing skimpier outfits). Travel to parts of Asia and it's basically everywhere tourists or business travelers are. ("Fun" fact: in Switzerland, the legal age for prostitution was 16 until a few years ago, and in Hong Kong it's still 16.)

Someone having gone to that island is not evidence that someone had sex with someone who was underage, or even had any idea that this was happening. They must have known that there were escorts on the island, but again: that's every major event. A Swiss newspaper had an article (most read at the time!) about all the high-end escorts traveling to Davos for WEF, for example. So merely having been there is not "kompromat," except that it's obviously embarrassing after it becomes public.

This would be more convincing if even a single person admitted going to the island but was completely unaware of there being underage girls there. People openly admit to going to Asia, Hong Kong, and Switzerland. Few admit to even having a conversation with Epstein.

When you're explaining, you're losing. Much easier to just deny ever having been there. It was very unlikely that those messages would ever become public, and even now that they have, at least there are so many people mentioned that there's still not much attention coming down on an individual. We're amused by Gates's STD story, but I doubt he's going to become a pariah in the global health community. Everyone will be happy to keep taking his money. Heck, many "reputable" people were very happy to take Epstein's money, too.

Can you think of any example of that? I regularly hear celebrities talk about their experiences with witnessing illegal activity or hanging around shady criminals without any of them ever getting "canceled" or whatever. As long as they weren't saying positive things about those shady people, of course.
Dozens, if not hundreds of people talked about their experience with Harvey Weinstein, for example. Did anyone "lose" by saying they went to a party with Weinstein and thought he was a creep? People aren't suspicious of you when you are open about your connection with someone, they are suspicious when you are secretive about it.

Cool story.

But kind of hard to deny when flight logs exist. Way different than heading to a club in a city someone already is in.
