It's because a portion of our population doesn't understand just wanting to help others without expecting something in return. If it isn't transactional somehow, or with someone losing in the exchange, it's suspicious to them. Because that's how they treat others.

I've seen this before

Asking Tim Fortnite about his opinion involving Linux is basically a fool's errand. From where I sit, I don't think you can get a level opinion about it from him. He's already comes off as a hateful weirdo about many things, but seems to carry an enormous chip on his shoulder when it comes to Linux.
