Two Bridges - Final Version by Brent Schumer, on Flickr
Love the perspective on that one-- it's awesome.

It's fireworks season.
First and third shots reminds me of chili peppers or something-- yet it's fireworks! :D

Helicopter is $$$$$ D: But man, it's a unique perspective.

I'm behind in posting some other photos, but the ones I just took are more interesting anyway. Got there 45 minutes early for my appointed bus time, all the good spots were taken. My streak photo (first time) was total fail. :( Next time, need to get there more like 2 hours early, at least for a popular launch like SpaceX Falcon Heavy.

Also trying to use two cameras at once-- one for streak shots, and one supertelephoto, was too much. Next time focusing on just using one camera is the way to go. I can maybe imagine developing the skill, coordination, and organization to use two cameras, but given I don't live anywhere close to rocket launches, it might be a bit painful to develop in a timely manner.

Also for some reason 500px's hotlink/embed previews have gotten really bad on quality. Please click for higher quality images.

ooo good to know. Not too horrible then... although I know that's not a cheap place to visit!

It is pretty expensive since for now you have to fly to Anchorage then to the island and just that leg runs $300. They are talking about starting flights from Seattle and that maybe make it cheaper. Of course that doesn't include renting cars and hotels and stuff like that.

How do you process your B&W shots? I find that mine often lack punch and are too blended.

All my photos use VSCO's now-unavailable ( :( ) Lightroom film presets as a base, then just editing to taste. I actually ended up bumping the exposure quite far down on a lot of those shots, like two-thirds to a full stop for some of them.

I'm going on a trip and while I love my 80D and Canon lenses, it's far to big and imposing to carry in a city. I get asked to take photos of tourists with their cell phones because my camera is the biggest which in their eyes makes me the most qualified. While I still have Fuji X100, which I love for size and nice reactions from passers it has couple of drawbacks: slow hunting contrast autofocus, too slow for moving people and I got fed up with 23mm (35 equiv). It's too wide for portraits, little blurry backgrounds even at F2 and I generally see the world more like 50mm. Also the it needs new batteries, comfier strap, lens cap and new case. Solution: used Fuji X-E3 and 35mm F2 R WR. I get the feel and size of X100 with fast autofocus and ability to change lenses. (I can also adapt my FD 50 and 135). I took it for a spin on the streets right after I got it.

A few NYC shots when my parents came to visit, just before we moved to (as it turns out) alohadave's neck of the woods.
I should really start naming my photos.

My wife made some cookies, felt like taking some photos.
The first one looks like a classic shot!

A much more conventional Vessel shot.
The highlights from the sun work well. Not sure about the tall building growing out of the back but then it's NYC, you can't exactly move the building. :D

I've done a ton of sunset shots lately, but all of mine have focused on the sun or the landscape at the expense of the people/humanity... yours reminds me I should go back to that aspect. Nice shot!

I'm a little behind on photos but I honestly don't think I grabbed anything TnPPT-worthy my last couple of trips. Unless you want food...

I fell away from my photography two or three years ago. Not even casual shooting.

For whatever reason, I decided to dig and locate all my gear the other day. That led to me finding some of my gear at work (speedlites and such).

Which led to me taking it home...which led to me resetting my studio (or setting it back up again)...

Which led to test headshots to see if I still got it.

:)

I still got it. I hope I stay en fuego for my hobby!

I'm behind...

Spoilered because big:

Manhattanhenge.

And part 2 of the trip:

Just before sunset.

Just after sunset.

Sunset itself I couldn't quite get anything interesting and balanced right in the foreground... just before sunset the cloud were too high up and the foreground was all shadow, a few small boats.
