Anyone help with some questions on missing recovery partition please??

Not apple expert but once I did this on empty drive. Boot Knoppix and zero beginning 10M and end 10M of partition. (or use some other utility). Then do network recovery.

Networking new building: VLANs, subnets, wlans questions

We've built new HQ adjacent to existing. Today I successfully tested 10g uplink between new core switches in both building for the first time. The current network is a bit messy but since I don't have proper racks and patch panels in old building (everything is terminated in RJ45) and...

Questions on network topology for security camera setup

Since I'll be facing similar problems at work, I'm going to post to this thread. Currently we have flat network but we built new HQ building adjacent to existing one with a nice server room so I'll be able to get proper cabling and labelling in places. (Current situation is a bit messy). I'm...

Sony 16-55 2.8 for $1400 or Canon 17-55 2.8 IS $400 used or $829 new. Canon has IS while Sony does not Sony 70-350 F4.5-6.3 costs $1000 but you can get Canon 1.4 extender for $100 and 70-200 F4 IS for $500 or 70-200 F2.8 IS for $900. You can also get 75-300 F4-5.6 for $180 or 100-400 F4.5-5.6...

    B&H Photo

Like others said either big online store is fine. I want to add on some other points: Nikon Z doesn't have many lens options and autofocus with FTZ adapter has been shown to not always work by some reviewers. When it does it works better than Nikon DSLRs for video. For photos high end Nikon...

FreeNAS: mirroring USB boot drive after the fact (looking for the easiest way)

The way I did it (I had corruption with Sandisk SSD, so I had to switch to Samsung 860 which I knew was fine, I got sent wrong size SSD but went with it anyway, then bought smaller Samsungs): - back up config - Install FreeNAS on mirrored drives (tell it to create mirror on install) - restore...

    Recommend me a color calibrator

I do photography as a hobby and I want to get more serious with editing and also do video so I'm getting a monitor and then plan to build an editing PC, which will boot Windows and Linux (CaptureOne, Davinci Resolve). I might take some photo job here and there but I'm not counting on it (this...

    Decent 22~24" 2560x1440 monitor recommendataion

I too decided to go with U2518D. I prefer smaller display with higher resolution so 24" 1920x1080 is not dense enough. 4k 27" are nice but then I could stretch it to Benq Photovue but other areas need more improvement for now.

in gparted , is growing a partition quicker than shrinking it? if so, why?

Shrinking needs to check if anything is in the space that is to be gutted and move it to different part of free space.

The *new* Perpetual Photo Accessory thread

While 90D will be even more capable than 80D which is a very capable camera and Canon's lens are usually cheapest for given focal length and aperture, I added slightly used Fuji X-E3 for travel for 480€ ($532) with box and all papers. It has 24MP, 14 FPS electronically and 8 FPS with mechanical...

Yes, same pixel pitch would yield 70-80 MP on full frame and it's rumoured Canon will come out with hi-res R mount next year.

Canon 90D and M6 II video and specs came out short before release: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1zy5BG_hX_Y https://www.dpreview.com/news/409835028 ... 0d-cameras More megapixels, joystick, weather sealing, eye AF and 10 instead of 7 fps. Allegedly no 24p in 4k but it does have 4k which is...

It's still nearly half a kilo (440g) lens. For me the idea of travel Fuji setup is either X100 or one of compact Fujis (X-T20/X-T30 X-E3, X-E2) with a single F2 prime. My X100 has been to America, Asia, Middle East and Europe. My travel setup for next trip is X-E3, 35mm F2 R WR and Manfrotto Pixi.

    The *new* Perpetual Photography Thread

I'm going on a trip and while I love my 80D and Canon lenses, it's far to big and imposing to carry in a city. I get asked to take photos of tourists with their cell phones because my camera is the biggest which in their eyes makes me the most qualified. While I still have Fuji X100, which I...

Best place to get your tv from?

Don't you have deals from cable providers/ISPs where you can get a decent TV and pay as part of subscription. If you're concerned with shipping, check Walmart or somesuch.

Doubts about a new desktop build

AMD 470 board + Ryzen 7 2700 are probably best value now. Don't limit yourself by narrowing to on-CPU video, you can always put in a cheap videocard. Also don't bother with VGA at this point, it's only use is for servers or POS systems. Get HDMI or displayport. For Virtual Machines Ryzen with...
