Yeah, fortunately the place I bought it from has a 30-day return policy so I've sent it back. The other 5.8GHz systems seem to all be eye-crossingly expensive if they do stereo, or you have to go with a 2.4GHz system which I'd be very hesistant to use given how crowded that tends to be.

Yeah, way back before we bought our house and were renting, my painting stuff was basically permanently packed into a cupboard, I'm not sure I did any painting over that period because of the exact issue you describe.
