Are they? Wonder how well this would have done in Germany, or Japan?
The Japanese "Imperial Flag" is also still in use in Japan, although not without some controversy:":1bfj6837]There's actually nothing particularly Nazi about that eagle (although it copies the style sometimes used in the 1930s). Despite its history, the Rising Sun flag remains in use. It is flown by the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force, which was formed following the dissolution of the Imperial Japanese Navy. The Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force uses a modified version, too, and you can spot the flag on cans of Asahi beer or in the flag of the Asahi Shimbun newspaper company.
Germany? The same country you can't buy call of duty in due to the zombies mode? That Germany?":1vz2e2yp]":1vz2e2yp]":1vz2e2yp]Damn, people are so sensitive. Dollars to donuts it would be fine. This isn't even strictly Nazi symbols, they are some made up flags with a German eagle symbol that is still in use today. The ad for the show is right above it too.

On the other hand, if you're trying to persuade people to buy your product perhaps it's wise not to offend them, even if they are overly sensitive.":16v9ojm0]It's starting to get old seeing the amount of people being offended by everything, and then companies caving in to the greasy wheels on social media.

'Cause they are fake? And advertisements for a series about a fictional universe?
It's Nazi symbols. You can't put Nazi symbols on things, for any reason (especially something trivial like a television show) and especially in New York City, the home of many generations of Holocaust survivors and the location of the Jewish Museum.
You can't expect New Yorkers (or really any Americans) to "get the joke" on this one. Especially this year; it's a little too close to the bone.
There is a big difference. What you posted has a swastika. That's what makes it Nazi. There are eagles just like this still on buildings in Germany today, just with the swastika removed, because the eagle itself isn't a Nazi symbol.":2sfn659l]":2sfn659l]There's actually nothing particularly Nazi about that eagle (although it copies the style sometimes used in the 1930s). That's the coat of arms of Germany. The insignia shown in the photo from the story is specifically the Emblem of the Reich. I should also note that this was the formal symbol of the Nazi party.

What Nazi symbol? The Eagle? That's as American as apple pie. Yes, it's clearly a 1930's Art Deco eagle, but so what? The Iron Cross? Germany used that in WWI, before the Nazis. Do these images invoke Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan? Yes, that's their point. Are they actual Nazi and Imperial Japanese symbols? No, they are not.":160agv4t]":160agv4t]":160agv4t]I'm surprised to see so many commentors here unable to see why it might be a problem of putting the iron cross as well as imperial japanese imagery all over public transit.

Don't confuse Nazi with Art Deco or we'll have to tear down half the buildings in New York City.":3hrktn40]":3hrktn40]There is a big difference. The eagle in that form has only ever been used by the Nazi party. It's specifically a Nazi symbol, with or without the Swastika.
Oh no, train cars.":19ztr9hp]":19ztr9hp]":19ztr9hp]":19ztr9hp]":19ztr9hp]I'm surprised to see so many commentors here unable to see why it might be a problem of putting the iron cross as well as imperial japanese imagery all over public transit.

It may not be the best idea, advertising-wise, but you absolutely can put nazi symbols on things.
Like Fredrick Forsythe novels? Like that, you mean? Sure. But not subway cars.
Train cars, for heaven's sake. What the hell is wrong with you people?
The iron cross is also not Nazi and still used to this day.":raseezpf]I'm surprised to see so many commentors here unable to see why it might be a problem of putting the iron cross as well as imperial japanese imagery all over public transit.
