Doctors outraged after RFK Jr. fires leaders of key preventive medicine panel

...

I know.... not bad for a novice conspiracy theorist, right??
Nice effort, keep going :giggle:

Not bad but not that good, alas...

The average US adult's earning and tax contributions peak between 45 and 54 years of age, and are still quite solid all the way to retirement age.

Setting them up to croak early is a worthy initiative, but cutting life-saving medical exams in that age bracket kills them off too fast. If you put a survival time of a few years, you have them all killed in the prime of their tax-paying age.

A much more interesting project would be to run the scythe the day after they retire. It's being worked on as well. Group effort :giggle:

New liberal-minded conspiracy: administration-level MAGAns actually DO believe climate change is real, man-made, and unlikely to be slowed... and have thus made the calculation the best way to put far less greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere, is for more people to die sooner. You know, "decrease the surface population," of money-grubbing Scrooge fame? If not early in life (vaccines), then mid-life (mammograms, colonoscopies, soon probably routine blood screenings we all get done during our annual check-ups). And RFK Jr is literally the vehicle used to accomplish this objective (or at least "get the death party started").

But none of this will be next quarter which is only as far as they can see. Hence the old fashioned war Iran for now and hoping to o get more nations involved for some good old fashioned bloodshed to boost gdp per capita / decapita

Fuck this asshole.

Does it really all come down to the fact that he thinks depression is fake?
They don’t plan to set up “wellness camps” because they genuinely think it’s all fake. They’re eugenicists who are outraged we don’t hide or kill “problem” people anymore.

They, of course, don’t use the word people for them.

He's saying they need to go on the offensive against RFK and not just passively accept the destruction.

Writing a strongly worded statement is the minimum that needs to be done and does not preclude the authors from taking other actions.

Having said that, it is not quite clear exactly what it is suggested they should be doing given that they don't have a lot of power to affect what the HHS does.

Exactly. It takes time to organise action but the AMA and the ACP are not visibly doing so. I guess the issue is that most direct action that the AMA and ACP can take hurts patients (most of whom did not vote for this, and in those areas where most of them did vote republican, so did the doctors who won't take part in any action). Indirect action like marches, protests, calling representatives are no longer effective either.

You could be partially right. I note conservative calls to have babies (even the ‘right’ colored ones) suddenly stopped maybe 6-8 months back. They’ve moved on to Plan B?

...a week in Cuba gets your mammograms, colonoscopies and vaccinations up to date while you spend the rest of the time on the beach.
The jury's still out on their work replacing endoscope lights with candles though, rumor goes the patient experience gets impacted some.

But thanks Beth Mole for reporting, as an EU citizen I don't much read U.S.A. papers.
I don't either but as a writer, based on what's available on Ars, I can imagine they're either:

1 blithely glossing over vital topics so that none are the wiser.

or

2 akin to reading a selection of stories from famed author Stephen King, albeit without the tedious predictably or inanimate objects coming to life.

When Péter Magyar got elected as PM of Hungary, there were all kinds of reports on what a task will be ahead of him to restore common order in his country and get rid of Orbáns cronies.

Honestly, I don't envy the one who gets elected after 47 on a program to restore common order in the US when all that will be left is scorched earth.
It’s going to require a heavy hand. Look around, and look at what the magas did in short order. That all needs to be amplified in the other direction, 3X. No do nothing democrats please, we need democrats who’ll get in their faces and break a chair over their head, reminiscent of South Korean parliamentary actions.

Trump is going to finish his term and nothing will stop him. I doubt he will even be held accountable for every crime and negligence during this term. Robert "Plague" F. Kennedy Jr. is just another of his goons that will probably follow the ame path. And will be less likely to be held accountable. And the absurds will keep happening in succession, till the end. Hopefully the end will actually happen in 2028. I don't see the orange emperor giving up power that easily.

I just hope the US isn't the starting point of a new pandemic.
Future judicial blowback may use the period up to his DOJ immunity to prosecute “The Don” our very own OG

Has Sponge Brain previously spoken out against mammograms specifically or are they just getting caught up in his anti-woke witch hunt?
Considering the complete lack of brainpower in the HHS leadership, I'd not be at all surprised if they demanded men get mammograms as often as women do.

Because as long as both genders get them, it isn't woke.

Next up, men have to have pelvic exams and cervical swabs...

Demanding men get cervical swabs and women get prostate exams in a roundabout way accidentally ends up being pro-trans.

The country elected a clown and expected not to get the circus [emphasis mine]. But the circus is exactly what everyone is going to get.
I don't believe by any stretch, after term 1 and J6, that anyone with an IQ over 90 — many MAGAns included — expected anything other than chaos and "making libs cry by any means necessary, including self-destructive ones."

Because that's the society / culture we live in. Online posturing and "winning online" and on Fox, is actually more important to many of them than a functioning society (evidently).

Endlessly fascinating how much Americans specifically seem to debate vaccines, which every health body in the world reccomends and easily have benefit to risk ratios of hundreds of thousands to one, but breathlessly defend their right to perform surgery on healthily born babies for whatever obscure reasons when no major health body in the world reccomends it and it kills 100-200 babies a year

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-47292307
It's not just Americans. There are a lot of people, including doctors, elsewhere who believe and spread anti-vaccine nonsense. A lot of people in the UK and elsewhere listened to Andrew Wakefield's anti-MMR bullshit, and the UK was one of six countries to lose its measles elimination status in the last several months. "Elimination" doesn't mean zero cases, it means the disease isn't endemic locally, and outbreaks are the result of travel (including travel by unvaccinated locals).

Most Americans aren't going to see the anti-vaccine propaganda in other countries, especially non-Anglophone countries (Spain and Armenia also just lost their measles elimination status). A lot of that crap isn't in the news or on social media, it's at individual doctors' offices, and it's people talking to their neighbors, relatives, friends, the parents of their children's classmates....

Sorry, YOUR political leaders. Fun fact, the world is not the USA.
And I am not from the USA. But have you taken a look around the world? Israel are the new nazis comitting genocide (jesus, the fucking irony of that), Russia, China, Iran, all power hungry dictatorships, Hungary just narrowly escaped full blown right wing fascism (for now!), South Korea barely avoided a coup, a free Taiwan may soon be history, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, Japan, the UK, in fact almost the whole GD world is swinging extreme right-wing, which is ALWAYS paired with authoritarian 'law', the freedom of the press is under increasing pressure everywhere, whole swaths of peoples everywhere are living in a completely different/alternate fact-free 'reality' thanks to 'Social Media'....

Need more? It's insane in the US yes, but the rest of the world is not all thar far behind... Speedrunning toward WW3, and I can't help but wonder why.

Even that's not fully accurate. They are neither pro-life or pro-birth or even anti-abortion (plenty of them will get one on the sly if they need it). They are anti women's autonomy over their own bodies, period.
It’s all religious hypocrisy. Every single one of their moves is based on some religious belief. Look into Christian Science (the only science there is in the name) look at what they believe in and you will understand. Fuck all religions they are the real devil.

To all the MDs who voted GOP because Obamacare was burdensome (I know at least three here in NYC), to the few MDs in Congress who confirmed JFKaka. Enjoy what you created, you brought a malignant outsider into the core of Public Health because Obamacare. Well, cry me a river now and may all the deaths be also on your heads.

People may ask "Why is this happening" and try to give Trump some grand 2025 planning, but I like to keep it simple.

Before Trump really lost his mind, he decided to take revenge on the American public.

All of Us.

He hand picked the worst, absolute worst people to head his cabinet, because he knew they would do anything for a dollar and do what he asked which was "destroy this agency".

His ballroom is stuck in his brain now, but I feel he more enjoyed watching the tearing down of the East wing because it hurt Americans, the destruction of a symbol. Same now with the reflection pool. A beautiful symbol, now cheapened and soil, destroyed. The arch, the same.

Yes, he decides things to enrich him, but what he decides on now includes, how will this punish Americans, again, even his MAGA folks and why them? They didn't finish what he told them to do. He lost in 2020. Its a two for one, hurt Libs, sure easy decision, but hurt MAGA poor folk, it's his version of "Your fired".

When Trump said he was going to reek revenge, His words the faithful heard was just "hurt the dems", but his actions have been hurt them all. His MAGA crons in Congress were happy to help till now, too late, they realized Americans don't like to be made fools of.

So, no surprise RFK Jr is making this decision. As another pointed out, "How's that vote working for you know Dr. Cassidy", but then the GOP only find courage when facing the end of their political life.

Let us try to remove more of them in November then keep the pressure on Democrats to not pull any punch in calling MAGA to justice.

"We strongly urge HHS to restore..."

Do we really have to go through all that useless theater each time? Just start inflicting pain, ANY kind of pain. They won't respond to anything else.
Yes, we do have to go through the process of documenting, in the government's own records, these lapses of judgement because they are statements of evidence that can accumulate into overwhelming proof. And they can be written and submitted at the same time that legislation is passed to stop these lapses in judgement.
I'm sure being "extremely concerned" and "alarmed" will put a stop to the madness.
I'm sure skipping documentation and legislation and jumping directly to...guns in the streets? Mass violence? Civil war?...will put a stop to the madness.
He's saying they need to go on the offensive against RFK and not just passively accept the destruction.
It's patently ridiculous to say that anyone other than the entire GOP is passively accepting the destruction of RFK, Jr. The Democrats don't hold any of Congress' chambers or the Executive. Wishcasting that AOC or some other person in Congress stand up in a hearing and laser-eye RFK, Jr. into ash and bone is absurdity.

"Kennedy has previously disparaged the USPSTF, calling it too “woke” and “lackadaisical and negligent for 20 years.” He had also previously revealed plans to oust the panel."

Givent the incredible stupidity of the current administration and Kennedy, himself, I prefer woke to stupid in the extreme. The irritating thing here is how extrordinarily unqualified Kennedy is for the position that he holds.

Medical tourism. Cuba has an efficient medical system, so does Venezuela, I guess Trump & Co. wish to destroy them so Americans cannot do cheap medical tourism - a week in Cuba gets your mammograms, colonoscopies and vaccinations up to date while you spend the rest of the time on the beach.
Not at all. They have little tech and less infrastructure. What they have is a lot of cheap labor that helps in cases where physical therapy is required or constant supervision of the patient is required, same for addiction treatment, but high complexity is not something I would treat in Cuba.

Better yet, just get everyone together and say that Kennedy has anti-science views and mental health problems that make him incompetent for his post, and indicate what's going to happen as a result of this. Do it in such large numbers, from bodies of physicians where the body itself isn't a government-umbrella organization, that the government can't easily retaliate without it being an all-out assault on American healthcare, one so frightening that people need to sit up and take notice.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

It can be done but requires a certain level of buy-in for at least 70 % of the population and control of both legislative wings along with the presidency. All while the Republicans drag their feet on everything. I still think that this would have been avoided if Nixon had gone to jail.

This would be tenable if they weren't also pro-life. I think we can just hold to the theory of: stupidity and greed, as these despicable people tend to have some businesses that could profit from such awful decisions.
They are in fact, as their actions clearly show, pro-death. A lot of the worthless shits cannot get a boner unless they are repressing women, but that does not stop them from being pro-death.

Ironically, I learned this very morning that my brother saw a community outreach message, got himself screened for lung cancer, and has been found to have a highly operable Stage 1 tumor. It was found early enough that no post-surgical treatment is anticipated. So those woke meddlers have kept another non-wealthy septuagenarian alive.

If Nixon had gone to jail, if Johnson hadn't scuttled Reconstruction efforts after the Civil War, if Ronald Reagan and William Casey had gone to jail in 1980 for violating the Logan Act, if Hillary Clinton had won in 2016, if Trump had been impeached either of his two trials during his first term, if Biden hadn't tried to run again/Harris had won in 2020, if, if, if...
