So, I guess the logical conclusion is that either all bathrooms have to be gender-neutral or you need to get a gender-based access card that's only issued after either a medical examination or a DNA test. After all, self-policing bathroom access on the basis of how people present outwardly (as is currently the case in most places) would clearly be a recognition of gender as a social construct, right?

I work at one of those nine schools (not as faculty, thank goodness). Our administration has been keeping its head down, sending representatives to DC to try to work with the T**** administration, presumably hoping to avoid such an ultimatum. Oh well...

Diversity is the unique and core strength of this melting pot nation, there's a lot of reasons to want to promote it, including the deep historical roots of being an essentially 100% immigrant country.
Conservatives are not scared of the blowback from a pendulum swing as many states and institutions already have diversity goals and minority requirements for grants and awards.
