Nice way of saying, "Silicon Valley" without saying Silicon Valley. ;)
I literally wrote Silicon Valley in the second paragraph.

Each one of those individually is probably anathema to some Ferrari fans, never mind all three together. But it’s 2026, and the reality is that the manufacturer absolutely needs something emissions-free in its offerings for vitally important markets like China and Silicon Valley. And now, here it is.

:ROFLMAO:

I remember purchasing my first car with a digital display back in 1985, paid a premium for it. Now you pay a premium for analog.

I like it. Love the yellow. If I ever pay a lot of money for a car I want an exciting color. Aero efficient designs are great to see. Am tired of American cars that sacrifice everything to create a four wheeled condominium in either crossover, SUV, or truck shapes. I write truck as most trucks never truck anymore.

Edit: Doc, just saw another article that says Ives contributed to the design of the Luce?

Taste is a funny thing. What appeals to some, revolts others. For my part, I think Mr. Ive should consider staying in his lane and leave car designs to others better suited to that. To be sure, he brought us some amazing designs in the past, but there have been more misses than hits in recent years. Perhaps with all the praise and adoration being heaped on him over the years, he got a little overconfident, and nobody is brave enough to tell him so. I would imagine that it would be hard for any designer in his position to maintain objectivity, and to see the limits of his own abilities.

I realize that Ive is not the only person who had a hand in this design, but I wonder if this project might have been better off without his involvement.

Then again, who cares what upcoming Ferraris look like? If the rich and famous want to occupy themselves with designing toys for other rich people, have at it I suppose.

I dig the combo of mechanical switches and dials (with such tactility!) with a digital interface, and the idea that just because it's an EV doesn't mean anyone said it should be all touch. The turn to open/close magsafe charger looking vents are cool. There's many good ideas that could be lifted from here.

But yeah...The exterior. That thing is somehow a fuglier Nissan Leaf, actually the Leaf isn't remotely bad for its price and even good, this is worse for an order of magnitude more.

Takes some getting used to, but I like that it’s a very clean look. Once I noticed the black part almost being separate from the colored part, I was intrigued. This design could be a grower instead of a show-er..
It's absolutely grown on me since Sunday evening. I was very underwhelmed at first but in the right color I am starting to appreciate what they're trying to do.

I'm not being rude but did you just not read the bit where I wrote that the car was designed by Ive and Newson's agency?

Like some legendary Ferraris of the past, the company chose to work with an outside design team for the Luce, in this case LoveFrom, helmed by Jony Ive and Marc Newson. Many will detect some hints of Apple in the car’s design; more than one journalist said they could imagine it wearing that computer company’s logo rather than the prancing horse shields that dot its exterior. But the almost cab-forward glasshouse perhaps calls to mind the Lotus Etna concept, with some Ferrari F90 (a one-off for the Sultan of Brunei) here and there too. And the four round tail lights obviously reference ’90s designs like the 360 and 550.

that's two for two with people calling me out for something they didn't bother reading.

I like the design (aside from the round taillights, which I haven’t liked the look of on any car since they stopped capping them with rocket fairings).

But the only thing that really conveys “Ferrari” on it are the badges. They’re victims of practical constraints, I realize. Once you put in the battery and optimize for low drag, you are forced into a very different design envelope than (say) the FXX-K Evo inhabits. So it’s not really a fair criticism in that way.

Still, the fact remains that it doesn’t look like a Ferrari.

Gotta say...that side profile with that specific color and those rims...does look pretty cool.
But there are also angles and color combinations that do not flatter this car in the slightest.
Might be a grower, I don't know...not that I'll ever be in a position to drive this thing. My current Polestar 4 was a tenth of the price and already was quite an expensive car for me.

But the interior is absolutely amazing. Not just another huge iPad on the dash but they really took the time to make this space their own.

All in all, an interesting car...remains to be seen though if it'll be a hit with Ferrari's usual crowd.

I AM curious about how the carbon footprint for manufacturing supercars and these luxury vehicles is vs. the average still unaffordable-for-most people new cars today stacks up. Luxury EV's vs economy EV's and luxury ICE's vs economy ICE's, all new model years.
I have the theory that the cost in $MONEY$ is a fair approximation of footprint. Not perfect of course, some things are extra toxic. But in general, that money is re-entering the economy to be used on everything the average person uses money on.

I love it. It's not a mid engine rocket like the 360 or 480, it's a modern EV version of a 1950s grand touring machine like the 250 Berlinetta SWB or the gorgeous 250 GT California Spyder. Those cars were more about style and luxury coupled with more than adequate power. Ive and the Luce's designers get it.

It's not for me. The interior is nice but the exterior..... yeeesh. I suspect this car has been developed with eyes very firmly on the Chinese market.

That said, no new Ferrari is for me because I have more sense than money. I'm glad that people with more money than sense exist though, because that gives me some sort of shot at buying a heavily depreciated supercar further down the line.

I feel the same about the whole car as the dashboard reveal. It's fine for a car, but doesn't look like a Ferrari. Seeing the whole thing now I bet if you swapped the badges you could convince people that it's some sort of Renault concept.
They might need REALLY BIG BADGES.

Making the dashboard touch screen display even more unusable by putting a round cut for a real analogue clock/chronometer into the top right is certainly a choice.
That entire top part of the screen is not a touchscreen, the stuff you see there is always shown there, plus the physical clock.

The choice of launch display color was unfortunate, allowing this comparison. As far as paying homage, the tail lights are 308/328. My greatest fear in all this? We’re entering a period of homogenization, mostly aero derived through wind tunnel optimization for the sake of efficiency, which is going to make most cars look quite similar.
