Eh, no. If you actually tried to buy them, you would know that it's downright impossible to buy the cheapest ones. The realistic price (i.e. at least the 5th on the list) didn't change much.

The market was slow but functional for me - I managed to luck out and refresh the page for the last card I needed for my Don't Starve badge when someone dumped a few copies of it at 10 cents below the going rate. I completed the set and sold the resulting snow globe all within the last 5 minutes of the sale.

I still can't get into my inventory either through the client or through the web. No response. Steam gives me error code -118 and web just gives a regular timeout.

I played Sins of a Solar Empire last night for the first time in a year. I ended up with like 14 cards, sold them few minutes later for like $1.40.

I'm not sure if I should sell mine now or if there will be some benefit to crafting them. I don't craft for levels anymore since I hit 40. The amount of badges needed for another 10 levels is ridiculous.

Not really. Levels and sale specific icons, emoticons and wallpapers.

Hmm, that plan was only partially successful. Looked up which badge was the cheapest to craft (It's CS:GO, in case you're curious, by a rather large margin), then built up to the level 5 badge, selling off the mysterious cards created.

A single foil would've paid for the entire experiment, but sadly I only got commons, resulting in each badge costing ~15 cents.

Still, if you've got some time and a little cash in your Steam wallet, it's not a bad way to up your level and pull that slot machine lever.

There's a valid benefit to crafting, but it's not specifically for crafting early. Completing badges gets you XP, XP gets you levels, every 10 levels increases your chances of getting random drops.

It's not a huge bonus, but it is a bonus, to be sure.

That's very handy; I didn't catch that if it was earlier in the thread. Thanks for the link! I've also been using the Steam Ninja extension for Chrome to buy out sets, which is okay, but I wish it auto-detected the "this has already been sold," instead of auto-reclicking over and over, making me manually close the hung tabs.

No foils for me, either, so I lost a bit of money, but probably less than $1, and I'm 220XP from level 30 now, so it's been handy.

Cleaner looking, but less functional in personal use, unless I'm missing something. I like the "what's the cheapest set of purchases to make a badge with the cards I have right now, excluding duplicates" of the first link.

Yeah, that ability to find what is cheapest for you specifically is fantastic. I'll be using that site heavily.

edit: It does make things weird though. Like, it makes more financial sense to sell off cards I have, then buy all the cards for various random games, just because those other games' cards are so much cheaper. That's just unsettling to me for some reason. :/

Also, not sure if this is common knowledge, magicka wizard wars is free and I got cards from it. Check it out if you need extra fodder.

As far as I know, there's absolutely no difference, other than the fact that you'll get a separate foil badge at the end of it. The rewards (icon, background, XP, etc.) are no different.

I'm sure others have noticed and it was noted in the deals thread, but idling multiple games doesn't work as well as it use to. Two games at a time seems to be the sweet spot, but just one running yields the most frequent drops. Running 2 or 3 seems to increase the time between drops exponentially.

I got myself a few more levels since crafting gives you those Mysterious cards which are worth $.25 to $.30. But man, 5 badges per level after 40 really hurts. I'm at 43 and would love 50. I really wish there were other ways to get experience besides badges and owning games. Maybe they'll do an achievement type system again at some point. One of the early sales had that.

That's been true since about ... week 2? Month 2 at the most. It was a brief launch loophole.
