RFK Jr. drags feet on COVID-19 vaccine recommendations, delaying shots for kids

This is one of the goals of the American right, to just break the government itself. This among (waves arms frantically) everything else that is going on is a part of that process.
Break the government, and hand over operations to the private sector. Expect service to be poor and taxes to go up.

I work at a hospital. Just got my flu shot a couple of days ago. Haven't seen anything about COVID yet. I do know that no one wears a mask at work anymore, unless they are working when they shouldn't or they are with a patient that is obviously horking.
That said, the doctors will wear a mask if you are, otherwise they happily spread what is going around.
I just got back from having bloodwork drawn at the VA, and getting my flu shot. I walked into the vaccination clinic and it was just me and two techs. I said, "you guys aren't busy enough." and they both laughed at the irony. And agreed. I asked about the COVID vaccine, and they said, "Go to Rite-Aid;. The VA isn't getting them for a while."

And the tone told me "for a while" MIGHT mean "ever again."

Then I remember Trump thinks veterans are a disgrace and "losers".

I don't believe in the supernatural, but if there is a god, I'm hoping all of those in the CDC dismantling it die of some horrible, preventable disease. The karmic Schadenfreude would be epic.

Has anyone been to USDA.gov today? This is all getting out of control.
Yep. Apparently this doesn't quite trip the Hatch Act since it doesn't directly tell people to vote for a particular candidate.

However, I'm not sure how useful this nonsense is to the maggots. If you're a maggot, then you're already intellectually dead and pounding stupidity into a brain who would lose an intelligence test to a bowl of Jello really doesn't get you anywhere. Likewise, if you're in the hate Trump section, hating Trump just a little bit more doesn't get anyone anywhere. If there really are undecided people who actually would vote who have any bit of discernment left, this might make you jump to the Democrats, but JHC, it's a little late isn't it? And if you are one of those Jello Brained undecided who would actually vote, perhaps it might tickle the space in your brain left after 'Hee-Haw' went off the air, but it's a little late, isn't it?

And if you're one of the many Americans who can't be arsed to vote by anything, this isn't going to do anything at all.

Just simply the same performative nonsense we've been inundated with since .... it seems forever.

Va will not be getting a covid vaccine any time soon imo. They might not even reimburse your community care vaccine (if you paid for it).

Will that one person be on this thread nitpicking the wording of limiting access again to try and hand wave away the fact that RFK/trump/GOP are limiting access to COVID vaccines again, like they been all over the other recent stories about this subject? Or will they finally eat crow about it and admit they’re limiting access?

I’m setting pretty low expectations of the latter happening.

I guess I need to add that I have never missed a COVID shot and always mask at work and in public. Either that, or are people on ARS pro COVID?
We do have our share of stupid readers. But to be fair, it is less than our fair share.

Aka Lysenko Jr.
Think Stalin and the Holodomir, or Mao's campaign to boost harvests by killing all of the birds. (Who in fact were eating the insects which were eating the harvest). Lysenko at least had some faulty reasoning behind his decisions, and was a classic example of a little learning is a dangerous thing. Nobody can accuse Grima Wormbrain of a little learning.

Just heard about that. That's a wildly blatant Hatch Act violation.

Of course, who's going to prosecute anyone over it?

In case the site changes back, here's what it says:
Due to the Radical Left Democrat shutdown, this government website will not be updated during the funding lapse. President Trump has made it clear he wants to keep the government open and support those who feed, fuel, and clothe the American people.

And of course the Democrats are out talking about how they're fighting to save healthcare largely without countering the lie that they're trying to provide healthcare to immigrants who are in the country illegally or even just clearly calling out Republicans for causing the shutdown.

It's just surreal that some random internet commenter like me seems to understand why their messaging continuously falls flat better than most elected Democratic politicians. (A few like Bernie and AOC aside — they get it.)

Does the head of the USDA have zero control over the agency's website?

It may not have been ordered by the head of the USDA, but that doesn't absolve them of responsibility.
Brooke Rollins is a long-time republican and Trump suck-up. A true believer in the smarmiest sense. It would not be at all surprising if the website header was done at her explicit direction.

Trump would also love to slap his name all over everything. See: TrumpRx.
I've seen a brief mention elsewhere of TrumpRx, and am hoping to see an ars article (hi Beth, Ashley!) discussing it.

My immediate reaction is to think it equal parts corruption and malice, but I would really like some well informed coverage.

The problem with the Hatch Act is it has no enforcement, no penalty. It's from a quaint time when it was expected officials would actually honored the law.

No, it doesn't quite trip the Hatch Act because Trump has gutted the Office of Special Counsel, which is the Office responsible for 'enforcing' the Hatch Act.

That, and the investigations take so long, and penalties can only be imposed against officials when in Office (and whom the President and his cadre wish to fire) that even findings that there were violations are ineffective and essentially meaningless.

Correct. The goal is to wreck any remaining trust in the Federal government and privatize everything. This allows a return to a new gilded age.

No rational person wants a return to those times that included poverty levels including the US not seen for at least a century. That's what they want for absolute control of society at large.
