Kind of sad that I'm more excited for this than avengers doomsday
To be fair: we've seen Avengers Doomsday before. Not that exact plot, but the format, the zillion characters, the cinematic universe connections, and the heavily saturated "feels very heavily processed" look. And none of that is a slight against Doomsday, which I feel will be pretty good. It's just not novel anymore.

We don't get a lot of shows like Spider Noir these days that go off in a very different direction and aren't trying to service 3 other productions at the same time. It makes total sense to be excited for something that feels different from what we usually get and just wants to tell its own story.

I watched this at my wife's behest, and I'm glad she convinced me to try it out. It's a great ride from start to finish. Far better than I expected, frankly. We watched in Black & White and I really enjoyed it. Cage really delivered in this role and the rest of the cast is great.

I do wish they had kept the original B&W shots rather than the reshoots they did to make a color version, but I guess they figured they'd lose a lot of the audience who wouldn't be willing to give a B&W show a chance these days. It is what it is, and the fact that it got made at all makes me happy.

The really nice thing? You don't need to know anything or have watched any other shows to enjoy it. It's not trying to pitch other projects. It doesn't even end with sequel bait (though the door isn't closed). You can just come in blind and enjoy a self-contained, complete story. That's so refreshing these days.
