Fly The Flags High

Reports are that Trump is visiting the hospital again. Washington Post has a paywalled article about it which I can't link to.

I have a modest proposal: when Trump finally passes on, when the Devil comes to collect on that deal, that people across the nation take out their flags and those with full-height flagpoles run those flags all the way to the top. I don't want to see any half-mast mourning. We'll need to celebrate.

I only have a little hand-flag myself, but I'll find a way to wave it.

I mean, if you really want to spit on his grave, just ignore it. Completely. No celebrations, no mentions of his name. Narcissists live for being known, being heard, the worst thing you could do to him would be to treat him as a nobody.
He won't experience it either way. The celebration would be for the rest of us.

At his age, with his issues... there are no routine hospital visits.
It actually seems a bit funny to me that the President of the United States, who very likely has medical workers on standby who give routine checkups without him having to leave the White House (and I would guess they also have equipment such as Ultrasound and X-ray machines on site) would have to go to a hospital as part of a "routine healthcare visit".

That's where they keep the routine MRI machine that they use for the routine brain scans to track the progress of his routine dementia. Before they do the routine cognitive tests that are so routine I've never had one and don't know anyone who has.

I wonder if the guy with the nuclear football goes with him on these trips.

Could be part of his paranoia (like the McDonald's thing) after so much interaction with the Russian mob. His enemies could infiltrate his on-site medical staff, but are much less likely to be ready to hurt him on a surprise visit to a hospital.

His hospital visits are probably no longer surprises.

If he dies in office, Vance will spend the next two years putting up gilded monuments to him. It will be unbearable.

He's clearly got something chronic that they can't treat at the Whitehouse, which is saying something. Likely, what technarch noted is on the right path: they need an MRI or CT scanner, with CT being unlikely since they're a lot less expensive to install and maintain than a MRI (no liquid helium storage for a CT). The best two theories i've seen are congestive heart failure, with frequent need for IVs to deal with that or failing kidneys, and the second option is that he's getting IV drugs for dementia and they're doing imaging on his brain to track the efficacy of those drugs.

Leqembi or donanemab seems likely, since both need to have an MRI handy to make sure they aren't causing certain side effects, like brain bleeds and swelling. It explains the cadence of bruising we have seen, and they're only intended for early dementia patients. His cognative decline would also align with this treatment.

Congestive heart failure feels likely, too, given his cankles and waddle getting worse and his frequent "puffy" appearance. And it could be both, god willing.

Personally, I'm guessing he goes this winter. It's so hard to avoid picking up various viruses with the number of people he's around, and if he is dealing with CHF then the likelihood of it getting severe goes way up. I've had many otherwise fairly health family members get their asses abosolutely kicked by nasty colds that progress. My mom is 16 years younger than Trump and has COPD as well as having a stent in her heart, and her Dr. basically told her a case of pneumonia could easily escalate to her going into the hospital. I know they have ample medical care for the POTUS, but still, the signs are there.

As if it wasn't already unbearable.
No he won't, he'll run as far from MAGA as he can to salvage his reputation. It won't work, he's torched it already, and he'll be combative the way Trump/MAGA are, but he'll revert to mean rapidly. If he doesn't, the rest of the GOP will walk him like a dog on a leash.

Unfortunately I suspect there will be more Democratic politicians rushing to say good things about him than Republicans. "Winning the hearts and minds" and all.
Given the whole treason slush fund thing I sure hope not. After all, it's more money than teapot dome and, constitutionally, well, I can't even. So, in terms of "worst Presidents in history", it seems that Donald Trump is determined to make Warren G Harding look like a fucking saint. And, frankly, there needs to be some kind of reckoning regarding all that corruption and divisiveness.

But, sadly, you are probably right, expediency does suggest ignoring all of that. So, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

I would hope the people themselves don't allow it. Part of it depends on who we elect in the midterms.

I suspect the number of wrongful termination lawsuits over people fired for making celebratory social media posts will be legendary. The gnashing of teeth over Charlie Kirk has led to a good dozen just from what I've seen pop up in my news feeds.

Meanwhile I'm not saying I have a special savings account set aside for plane ticket so I can flip off his corpse with both hands while saying "I hope you can see this in hell because I'm doing it as hard as I can".
Definitely not saying that.

Oh, God, the tut-tutting from the establishment Democrats about ~decorum~ and "being better than them" is going to be absolutely nauseating.

And then they'll throw up their hands and wonder why their Diet Republicanism doesn't win hearts and minds.

I hope that passes, from what I understand the underlying rock is so rotten that any new face would probably bring that whole travesty down.

We could then direct my ire at Stone Mountain by setting up a howitzer in the valley below and for $100 anyone could have a pull. Anyone who was negatively affected by the "peculiar institution" would get freebees.
Yes on both counts. I don't think there's room for a new image on Mount Rushmore. They'd have to reshape an existing one. I'm guessing he'd want to replace either Teddy Roosevelt for being too progressive, or Thomas Jefferson for being too liberal.

I don't get the fetish of fantasizing about Trump's death... you think JD Vance is going to be more aligned with your policies? And, as an incumbent, you think some random Democrat is going to beat him in 2028? It's MAGA that should be hoping for Trump to die in 2027 so JD can take over, run as an incumbent, and keep the movement going for the next 4 years.

Hahaha, who's going to stop the JD train once it starts rolling? We all know how much everyone adores the guy and his sparkling charisma. So much so that Trump reportedly has been openly questioning his ability to win in 2028. Add in his non-white wife and children and I'm sure the "America First" wing of the Right is going to be really excited for that!

While I don't do half-mast or lowered flag traditions, I am definitely going to put on a hype playlist when the insane asshole croaks. Given the recent cancellations for Trump's "Freedom 250" birthday celebration, definitely adding C&C Music Factory's "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)" to that list

As I've said before, Trump is the lynch pin for the entire system of grift that's currently controlling the GOP and the US government. It really doesn't seem like Vance could hold things together in even remotely the same way. As soon as Trump falls away, the infighting will start, and Vance isn't going to be the one to stay on top of that.
