What happened today that you liked?

She's settling pretty good. Was a scheduled c-section so kinda "easy" delivery, but lots of other fun afterwards... Thus far baby has been super chill, which is nice. Of course, he is mine, so who knows how long that will last until he decides to just start messing with everyone for the fun...

What happened today that you liked?

Not sure if "liked" is the best word... I got to bring my son home from the hospital today. It has been a journey, he is the first success, was attempt 12. But he is healthy and happy.

Surge protection for external LTE antenna?

No, we only had a single strike. It was before our isolator arrived, we had ordered it but it hadnt come in yet, and we were gambling on good weather before it arrived. Im not sure the stuff on the roof would have survived a strike either way

    Canadian political thread

I mean, Kenney did say a while ago that if anyone wants to separate, the border is to the South, and the crossing opens first thing in the morning. I do take solace in how many more people signed the Forever Canadian petition. Because I know the separatists were going to get a good number of...

Ukraine is game to you? Part deux.

I think Ukraine should just announce that yes, they are going to let the parades go on in Moscow without bombing them. Then just send all of their drones elsewhere, at more oil terminals and such that are nowhere near the Russian capital.

    Cat Appreciation Thread (with pictures!)

So, my one cat likes to eat paper and similar things to that. So one day he found the outer shell of a piece of garlic. Kept trying to eat it, then just spit it out because it was gross. But then wanted to eat it because of the texture, so bit it again. I think he tried it like 10 times...

When is it time to flee, part three

For reference, we bought a 1600 sq ft house with a huge yard near a high end golf course in Edmonton a couple years ago for around $500k. We have a friend that bought one side of a duplex at 1200sq ft with a tiny yard for $750k around the same time in Vancouver. A lot of the $600k houses in...

Surge protection for external LTE antenna?

My old company ran a security camera on our roof to monitor the nearby rail crossing, we installed a surge protection device on our ethernet cable (PoE camera) after the first one got hit by a leader. We had ordered the SPD but it hadn't arrived yet, saw the storm coming, and disconnected the...

Problem connecting to OpenVPN on Archer A9 router

Sorry, got interrupted yesterday with meetings and such. Good to see that you at least have a basic connection going now. I wonder if the reboot is what did it, or a new config kicking the server somehow to actually start up properly. Or, for some really odd reason, the default OpenVPN port...

Problem connecting to OpenVPN on Archer A9 router

Ok, so I haven't played with OpenVPN in a while, but that error appears to be specific to not being able to even start talking to the server. So that helps somewhat as far as lack of server logs goes (handshake issues can be fun to troubleshoot if you can't see the server log to see what is...

Problem connecting to OpenVPN on Archer A9 router

Do you have access to any OpenVPN logs on the router? Is the OpenVPN port open, or is it firewalled? I am assuming that your choices are PPTP and OpenVPN, with nothing like Wireguard available.

    Cat Appreciation Thread (with pictures!)

I am assuming it is one of the common vertical feeders with the feed jug at the top to hold all the food, which turns a paddle or opens a gate to drop food into a dish below it. That is somewhat common for cats to figure out how to bump more food out or reach in and turn the paddles. The...

Lounge random thoughts/stories thread -- CURRENT

I'm not sure if keeping a balance is any better, as Amazon already has that money. So in theory, it hurts them more if you spend it as they now have to pay that out to their vendors, instead of being able to keep it in an account that they could potentially be making interest on.

Ukraine is game to you? Part deux.

I know range and turning radius and other such things mean it likely won't happen, but I would be amused if Ukraine managed to use that to redirect Kinzhals at one of the based in occupied Crimea, forcing Russia to have to expend AA munitions to shoot down their own missiles...
