In a serious note tho, it'll be interesting to see how well this works in humans. There are quite a few problems in the gut that could possibly be cured by this.

It works pretty well. That's where he got the idea to try it on dogs. Theoretically it should work just as well for all sorts of animals with gut flora problems so I'm curious to see if this will be adopted in agriculture.

i think its the 93% of the 17%, since they specified it worked on 93% of those who needed the second treatment.

So in other words you could conclude, that dogs aren't stupid or strange for eating sh*t off the street but are actually doing something good for themselves. Seems like another reason why it's a bad idea to project our own lifestyle on other beings (since most dog owners quickly pull their little buddy away from what they try to eat there ;-)).

In Conrad’s procedure, veterinarians simply take stool from healthy dogs, screen it, liquefy it, and then inject it into a sick dog’s intestines with a feeding tube inserted in their rear. The screening process
You don't have to do all that for my dog. He already eats stool, just screen it and put it in his food bowl.

I'd say the possible health benefits of free range grazing are far outweighed by owners endeavoring to save their well meaning pets from the worst breath freshener ever.

Not poop pills, more likely to be suppositories.

A suppository's just a pill you swallow backwards. :D

Pills have been used successfully to do fecal transplants in humans. The outer layer is designed to survive passage through the stomach, where the high acidity would normally kill the beneficial bacteria being transplanted.

Well, here in mid-western Europe, a course of oral probiotic ("good bacteria") pills by mouth to reestablish gut flora is pretty standard after or even during a course of heavy antibiotics. Is this not the case elsewhere? While this could have something to do with Germany being the nation where a book called "Gut: The Inside Story of Our Body's Most Under-Rated Organ" [original title "Darm mit Charme: Alles über ein unterschätztes Organ"] can be a bestseller, medical evidence, for example Probiotics for the prevention and treatment of antibiotic-associated diarrhea …, seems to back this approach.

[Edit: fix up link.]

Widely done in the US as well. But it doesn't cure the types of diarrhea they are working on.

"Toxoplasmosis" on @Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toxoplasmosis?wprov=sfsi1

Up to half of the world's population are infected by toxoplasmosis but have no symptoms.[8] In the United States about 23% are affected[9] and in some areas of the world this is up to 95%.[1] About 200,000 cases of congenital toxoplasmosis occur a year.[10] Charles Nicolle and Louis Manceaux first described the organism in 1908. In 1941 transmission during pregnancy from a mother to a child was confirmed.[11]

Parasite makes men dumb, women sexy

A common parasite can increase a women's attractiveness to the opposite sex but also make men more stupid, an Australian researcher says.

It may be that the supplements we have are not sufficient... and that a better one would be effective for this.

I could of avoided having my Large Intestine removed if this was farther along (Ulcerative Colitis and all medication failed). Sadly with Disability in the US you get the worst medical care available, not something fringe.

If you're fat follow a skinny person and steel there poop

Let me guess it's an indoor cat and he's had anabiotic shots

And if the cats really fat you feed them dry food

Let them go out and eat some grass a mouse and a bird and he'll be fine in the morning

Although if you try to Stick poop in a cats ass please send me the video

mandy2tom[/url]":22j24tz4]But I'm really curious how many people would be willing to take poop from somebody they know and insert it to cure Inflammatory bowel disease or obesity

The answer is probably 99% of people with IBS. The perceived "indignity" of a fecal transplant doesn't even hold up to the comparative indignities of IBS, let alone the pain and discomfort. If blowing a hobo cured IBS, you'd still probably see 50% seek treatment in the first year, and 99% over 10 years.

But, to put it another way, people will work with feces on a daily basis for wages that are pretty much median.

The means, would have to include the ability to screen for all possible diseases you could accidentally transmit, this is not possible

For now we can only accept the potential harm
We have 10 years of proof of a 93% success rate on the first try a 98% success rate by the third try

And still there is no common FDA approved pill
Mostly because the screening is impossible
And which bacteria's to colonize a nice healthy intestinal Biome is very poorly understood
But I've been watching these stories closely for over 10 years, and what terrifies me as there may not be such a pill for another 20

And I really do believe it's because of the Supreme Court ruling about you cannot patent life or DNA that already exist

And if you can't patent why invest the money if everyone else can steal your work once you figure it out
