Elon Musk would let Trump back on Twitter, says ban was “morally wrong”

The rat has finally confirmed he's a full on fascist libertarian (used to say proto fascist) and a bootlicker for wannabe white nationalist dictators. Is he trying to make up for what he thinks wealthy white people should have done in South Africa when apartheid was finally being ended or something?

Noting that Trump "has publicly stated that he will not be coming back to Twitter and he will only be on Truth Social," Musk said that "banning trump from Twitter didn't end Trump's voice. It will amplify it among the right and this is why it is morally wrong and flat-out stupid."

Which is just a lie. Truth Social is a useless turd. Trump has posted exactly two times on the site and those posts were seen by such a tiny number of people as to be completely irrelevant.

I would add that once Trump was deplatformed the mainstream media finally got a clue and stopped reporting every damn utterance of mouth diarrhea like it was breaking news. That also greatly reduced the secondary reach of his hate filled disinformation.

Deplatforming works which is the real reason why Musk wants to reverse that. I would argue that Trump should have been deplatformed for habitually violating Twitter TOS long before he did but even Twitter as spineless as they are drew the line at leading a coup to remain in power after losing an election.

What isn’t said is how long “temporary” can be. I mean, is it like someone who is mentally unfit for conviction can be confined until they are healed or is he envisioning a not to exceed time period?

I mean, if a person eventually learns to behave properly in public discourse, at some point you let them back into the conversation, right?

This is straight out incorrect. Trump got much, MUCH less media coverage once his social media accounts were banned. The vast majority of news coverage was not about what he did or was planning -- something he had plenty of official outlets for, as president -- but what he was saying on Twitter.

His argument is that by banning him, it has caused his followers and his voice to become more radicalized in a right wing echo chamber. Note: Truth Social now exists.

Seems like Elon may be right on this one.
I see you haven't read up on how Truth Social is actually doing in the real world. Might want to try that before you draw such conclusions.

"More radicalized" than storming the Capitol?

What his followers do in their isolated echo chambers is irrelevant. What they do to normal people in normal people spaces is what matters.

Except he is not. Nobody uses Truth Social because it is worthless. Deplatforming works. A radical movement needs to continually attract and radicalize NEW MEMBERS who are currently not radical. If they are limited to the edges of society that is much harder to do.

Spreading hate and disinformation on a widely used platform like twitter is far more effective at recruiting members than a bunch of bigots talking to each other on stormfront on why minorities are trash.

Trump attempted a coup before being banned. The MAGAts were already radicalized a long time ago.

More radicalized? You do realize that Trump was banned because he goaded his supporters into trying to overthrow the US Government, right? Sedition? That word ring a bell?

It's pretty hard to radicalize people even more than that.

I've long been a fan of Elon and looked past his missteps, due to a belief that the net good he has done with revolutionizing the EV and spaceflight industries far outweighs the negatives, such as the idiotic rants on twitter.

After the anti vaccine nonsense from a few months ago, and now bringing the orange bufoon back, I have completely changed my opinion of him. Giving Trump his Twitter bully pulpit back will be a disaster for our already frail democracy. I'm so done with his crap.

Truth Social also gets barely any visitors, and the number of visitors to it is consistently falling.

I wish Musk would stick to cool space and car stuff.

He isn't needed for that to happen, again it is a misnomer to credit him with anything but the initial idea which is filled in by his underlings.

As for this announcement, it isn't shocking at all and just highlights what I consider the continued irrelevance of Twitter. Again the stupidity of paying a massive amount of money for a loss making venture that has somewhat limited profit raising options without fundamental changes. Hi Elon I've some magic beans you can buy for a billion or two if you like
