China bots flood Twitter with porn spam to drown protest news

Musk is still relying on existing framework and automation to keep up the removal process, which I'm surprised hasn't completely broken by now. Combined with the aforementioned "amnesty" then Twitter's going to be a literal spam hole where nothing of value is obtained from it. However I'm willing to bet a month's wages that not everyone is going to be unbanned; anyone who has argued a point against Musk will stay banned.

Of course there's also the theory that Musk would not remove the state posted spam because that could harm his Tesla factory in China......

By mid-2023, Musk will feel greater pressure to respond to countries’ concerns in the EU, where stricter rules protecting online safety will soon be enacted. If he doesn’t, he risks fines as high as 6 percent of Twitter’s global revenue, AP reported.
By mid-2023, one or both of Musk and Twitter will be cold in the ground.

I'm on the fence if Twitter will fail or not. On the one hand it's a complete train wreck. On the other hand millions of people are using it to get a front row seat to watch the train wreck. The demise will be when people stop paying attention and I'm not sure we're able to collectively look away.

Just because it's probably not a conspiracy doesn't mean they aren't Happy Accidents.

Put it this way: I don't think Musk is deliberately sabotaging Twitter in that direction, if only because it implies a grasp of Twitter's operations that it doesn't remotely looks like he has, but he also doesn't have any great incentive to have the issue addressed and many more incentives to treat it as a feature and not a bug...

Wrong. Because that actually makes it worse for twitter. With no advertisers or near enough more users actually means more cost to twitter.

Everyone knows why. Apple has surely told Twitter as well.

I have a long list of companies I want Musk to buy. At the top of the list are fossil fuel companies. Surely, his Twitter leadership will lead these companies to a new gilded age. /s
He DID say we needed to raise fossil fuel production. I took that as the first sign of his MAGA conversion.

All the "polls" and crap about amnesty are not about feedback or making twitter more "free".
Its about stirring up hate and controversy to get eyeballs and revenue flowing.

Musk is willing to burn down entire countries if it might ameliorate his own self inflicted problems. Of course, this is kind of the case for most billionaires. You cannot earn that much money without being a horrible person.

The cheap fuck probably doesn't want to pay his 30% tribute to Apple. ¯\(ツ)
Usually it's broken moderation. I haven't noticed any good moderation actions lately. That means it's not whatever Apple calls "family friendly" because, y'know, all the nazis and hate speech and overblocking.

I think I'd prefer if those fossil fuels get used as fuels and instead of leaking into the environment after the inevitable Musk-driven exodus of safety personnel leads to refineries and oil wells breaking down and failing in exciting and potentially explosive ways.

If bots weren't a problem before, they certainly are now.

Also hate to play conspiracy theorist, but considering Twitler has shown he's willing to go down on CCP officials to protect his Tesla plants, we sure that this wasn't a case where the gates were opened by someone on the inside? No hard evidence to support this, and it could well be a happy coincidence for Chinese authorities, but one does have to wonder.

Several (Conservative) sites reposted that Elon had released some stats from Twitter showing higher sign ups and lower reports of confirmed negative posts.

I have to wonder how the negative posts get reported. Likely by the moderation team? He pretty much wiped out the moderation staff in many countries.

But Twitter no longer has a communications department 🙂

Musky's probably like "it's not an official communication until you tweet it at me directly."

It's not a communication unless it comes from the Cómmunicatíon region of France. Otherwise it's just a sparkling message.

I wonder what the odds are that he fired/laid off the Twitter's point of contact person with Apple.

I doubt that. If anything its more likely that he will refuse or be slow to respond because he doesn't want china to retaliate against tesla.

I think the keyword is confirmed. If you have less people marking less commands as negative then of course your have less confirmed posts.
