So far, no complain. My stupid and insignificant request would be to have the old favicon back for the Forums. I liked the Roman column.
I use the orange dot at the left of the thread title to differentiate the unread ones. The bolding is indeed not enough in Dark modeDark theme:
In the list of threads, I'd like a little more contrast between "you've read all these posts" and "there are new posts in this thread you haven't read yet". The latter have the thread title in boldface, but it's not a "strong" bold and so I have to look closely to see which type it is.
Looks fine in the light theme, super easy to see the difference.
Can we get a quick link to the "Forums List" page in the header where "Your Threads" is? It's confusing how to get there currently, and seems to require at least 2 clicks.
Give more weight to characterized downvotes, and display the main reason when someone opens the comment anyway. 'This post was hidden for Disinformation' for example. The reason I'm hesitant to implement something like that is the reasons were always optional. Plenty of people never clicked them, and that's fine. A downvote is a downvote, I'm not really inclined to make people jump through extra hoops to register it.
But we can definitely give it some thought.
Well, you have a random avatar assigned by the Forum software, and it happened that it was one with a random color that is definitely orange, but that is not the Ars Orange. Because it's random. Would you raise a defect if the random color assigned to your default avatar profile picture had been blue, or yellow?I definitely would appreciate an Ars Orange avatar "K", seems like a very reasonable request that many other Ars members would appreciate -- it's definitely an issue, but it's in the feature request bucket. If I wanted Pan-Am blue I'd agree with your sentiment.
Don't forget, not only is there Paintbrush art time, and you generously assumed I could work out exact dimensions and font size the image would need to be to fool everyone into thinking it was just another text-only avatar in a reasonable amount of time, there's also the time it would take me to work out if I should remove the image metadata.
EDIT: you know what really bugs me? I have an orange avatar, and it's the wrong orange for Ars, if I was at work I'd be raising defects.
Same here. Up to 10 seconds to open a thread. I was wondering if it was on my side.OK, serious lags are happening when I click on thread title links. Many seconds in some cases.
What's up with that?
I'm afraid that's against regulationsIs there any way to delete posts? I don’t want to “report” my own posts, I just want to be able to delete them. If there’s a way to do so, I can’t find it.
Abuse of editing privileges is not permitted. Editing posts for grammar or information is fantastic, but after an initial grace period of 10 minutes, users may not delete/edit content for the purpose of evading possible moderation (removing flames, trolls, etc.). Also, starting a thread, not liking how it turns out, and then deleting your own posts is irresponsible and unfair, and an actionable offense. It's simply not cool to troll users and then delete it, acting as if nothing has happened.
There's an orange dot in front of unread thread titles, in addition to the bold typeface.I’ve noticed that as my visual acuity decreases (damn you, entropy!) I’m finding it a little difficult to clearly differentiate unread topics in dark mode. Oddly, light mode is fine, but I find it very hard work otherwise. The goggles, they do nothing!
I think it’d make things a little more accessible for those of us with crap eyes to have some colour emphasis, or a blob at the left of unread topics, or something.
