Yes! If you go to the footer in the forums you can switch your theme. Hope that helps!
Unless we are missing something, the footer button affects both the front page and the forums behavior identically.

Is there a way to get a dark themed front page and a light themed forum?

Also, I know that quotes are meant to be single-level by design, but since @Chito originally called this out, it would be nice to somehow tie these responses to his original query. Is that possible?

While I hope few of us ever need to see it, what is the icon that gets overlaid on a banned user's avatar?

Just a general message of appreciation as to how well the migration to the new software is going and just in case no one has discovered this yet, I've figured out how the multi-quote functionality works.

After clicking one or more "+Multi-quote" buttons, you get an additional button at the bottom of your reply window which allows you to "Insert quotes..."

Not something I think I'll need to use more than rarely, but nice that it exists.

Navigation question/request and I'll apologize if this has already been noted or is being addressed.

In the screenshot, clicking "View Thread" brings you to the first page of the comments of the thread. Clicking "Jump to latest" or the "38" (in this example) brings you to the last post and last page, respectively. Would it be possible to turn the title of the thread "Ars forum updates are now here!" into a link which brings you to your first unread item in the thread, just as it works as if you were viewing your Watched items list?

Alternatively, have I missed some way on this page to go to the first unread in a long and active thread, assuming it is not on the last page?

This is not a high-priority item, but it seems the titles used in forum posts by the JournalBot don't always align with the winner of the A/B headline tests.

I'm assuming these two items are referring to the same story.

I'll also be honest and say I don't really understand how the A/B headline testing process works (other than the site hopes to draw in more clicks), but that's a question for another time.

Thanks much for getting the 'hide comments with many downvotes' feature working again. I think that's going to improve article discussions a great deal.
Agreed.

For purely intellectual purposes, I'm curious to know what the number or ratio of downvotes it takes to block a comment, and how many it takes for a comment to get the "popular" label?

An "Are you sure" prompt might be nice on the "Mark Forums as Read" button.

Really didn't mean to click that

There is one by default actually, we removed it. Once you start using it more often the constant "are you sure" prompt is irritating. I decided it was a power user feature and erring on the side of less irritating was the better approach.
I can understand there are probably more people who use "Mark forums read" frequently who would be annoyed by an "are you sure" prompt than those like Ecmaster76 and me who accidentally clicked it, but would a reasonable compromise be to move "Mark forums read" to the far right side of the horizontal row?

But that said both the people going back and forth in that thread have been ejected.
super-low-priority feature request which may not be worth the effort to implement: when viewing the "who replied" for that particular thread, there's no icons displaying which accounts got ejected from the thread, but not hard to guess based on reply counts.

I'm not following. Can you post a screenshot?
Using this option:

Gets you to this:

You already know the first two accounts are the ones ejected from the thread, but since I suspect this is simply a view into the account in general and not specific to the thread, there is no icon on the avatars of coldasthepoles and dave23 indicating ejection.

Again, not a huge priority given the hopes that thread ejections are rare, but simply noticed this and didn't know how easy or difficult it would be to implement.

For the second time in a few weeks, I've hit that Mark forums read button and voila, it does said marking without any further input from me - which I clearly didn't want to do but couldn't help myself from hitting that option AGAIN.
So, any chance it could possibly ask you/me, do you really want to do this? Or put that option behind the sign that says ...

The last time this came up, Aurich said this in response to an "Are you sure?" prompt:
There is one by default actually, we removed it. Once you start using it more often the constant "are you sure" prompt is irritating. I decided it was a power user feature and erring on the side of less irritating was the better approach.

I'll again ask if a reasonable compromise might be to move the "Mark forums read" option to the far right of that horizontal row, giving a little bit of help in not accidentally clicking that link when using a desktop browser. I have no idea what the mobile experience looks like for that.
