If you don't see the difference between a comedian making jokes about celebrities for their affluence or their work and a comedian making a joke about someone's disease that they've publicly stated they're struggling with then I don't know how to help you. Will Smith behaved like a twat, but Chris Rock was not an innocent victim.

That's just victim blaming. Nothing justifies someone physically assaulting the host at a show.

Even worse "joke about someone's disease" "not an innocent victim" really implies Chris Rock was being particularly mean-spirited, which I doubt anyone would say about a joke about a short hair and GI Jane. That's about as milquetoast as you could get with a joke about someone's appearance.

Then we could get into the Pandora's box about why so many believe a husband should be justified and praised for "defending the wife's honor" and all that.
