It's no secret that Metal Gear Solid mastermind Hideo Kojima is a big fan of film. His games are very cinematic, with lengthy cut-scenes, and of course a film based in the MGS universe is in the works. But what films influence Kojima? Well, he recently revealed his top 15 films of all time, which are as follows:
- The Guns of Navarone

- The Great Escape
- Goldfinger
- 2001: A Space Odyssey
- Planet of the Apes (original work)
- The Deer Hunter
- Dawn of the Dead
- Full Metal Jacket
- Predator
- Die Hard
- Heat
- Black Hawk Down
- Children of Men
- Bourne Series
- 007 Casino Royale
Definitely a great list, and you can see where the some of the films have had a strong influence on the games Kojima makes.
There is a good mix of military, sci-fi, and straight up action, all which are prevalent throughout the MGS series. Even more recent titles like Children of Men appear to have had a strong influence on the aesthetic of MGS4. Let's just hope that if and when the Solid Snake sees a release, it is able to match the level of quality of the films on this list.
