Title says it all. I'm looking for an SSD for $15 or less shipped. 7.5 or 9mm shouldn't be an issue. If you can throw in a SATA data cable that would pretty cool too. Size should be at least 16GB though bigger (30-80GB) is preferred. Shipping must be done by USPS and to US zip code 09128 (APO AE for those that understand). This is for a FreeNAS project which is why the small size works. If you want to make it double I'm happy to take 2 in a package for $20. Payment will be with paypal or a picture of some rugged good looks.

Do you find a lot of use for a 16-40GB SSD these days that would make you think to keep it as a spare or are we talking about the penchant for people to hoard outdated IT parts because of the sunk cost? Honestly I wouldn't consider one anywhere near this small even for just an OS install except this special project (FreeNAS) quite literally can't use any space above about 8-16GB. As noted, I'm happy to increase what I'm willing to pay for the right part.

Let's say $20 shipped since that's the fleabay price I found for a 40GB Intel 320 series (plus their charge of $2.60 to ship) or I can trade a 2.5" 500GB SATA spinning drive.

I got $25 into my 64gb ssd, but only because I got an msata one instead of a regular sata. I'd say $20 would be more the normal going rate. I had to drop a few more $ into mine due to needing an adapter to use the msata on a regular mobo after the msata thing didn't work out. With that said though, a 64gb is plenty for an os install and to use as a troubleshooting drive so they are still worthwhile to have around. Pop one with an on on it into a system that needs a virus removed or to verify the system is still good. Plus you can use them as storage with a USB to sata adapter for quick file transfers. They read and write much faster than a typical USB stick and since you already have it laying around, why not. Couple that with the fact that yeah, when you have so much into it and you are only getting a few $ back, it may be that people would rather just hang on to them in case rather than let them go for near nothing.
