Let's break it down to one line, "Of course, to be truly free, muslims are going to have to just stop being muslim." Is that discriminatory of the individuals who adhere to Islam or the religious institution itself?

Can I say "of course, to be truly free, jews are going to have to just stop being jews" and not be slammed for it? Can I say exactly the same about xtians or buddhists or can I only apply this logic to muslims?

I still don't see that statement as a sincere criticism of Islam. It strikes me as a criticism of its adherents.

It's simply not going to happen, either for the US or Israel.

Yes. Yes it is exhausting and infuriating. Nuremberg-style trials are going to be necessary as a way to bring some closure, or people will still be going at it 100 years from now. Truth and reconciliation commissions too; someone will need to document all of this.

The problem is that people in this thread did not read it.

Instead, many people just took the poster's word on the contents of the article because it confirmed their biases.

The take aways really should have been:

1. It wasn't said directly by Hegseth, but it is still shitty that he's doing things that are emboldening this behavior (prayer meetings at the Pentagon, etc.).
2. It is FUCKING AWESOME that over a hundred complaints have been filed by NCOs over the remarks made.

I think with Iran effectively decapitated, and the current genocide against the palestinians and possibly against the Lebanese, most terror attacks won't happen. Who wants that fight??? The mullahs and the sunni clerics, of course, but if Israel effectively acquires a 'perpetual' hunting license against them, eventually those people will pipe down and/or simply stop being replaced. I don't think Israel has to keep its neighbours at 'stone age' level; it's war is with islamic fundamentalism, and without the US keeping Israel on a leash, that war is winnable. And believe me Israel is motivated to win it.

I said this a long long time in the Soap Box, back when we had a freer hand to say these things, but you can defeat fundamentalist islam easily enough. Kill the clerics. That might be illegal and immoral to many, but it's how you end the war they want to fight with Israel (and all of us). Israel has long hunted and killed nazis, and few complained if any. The clerics who cry for the genocide of Israel and the sacrifice of muslim children are the new nazis. You do the math...
