258 was the total regional cases in the outbreak three days ago, not just limited to Texas. Reported cases in Texas rose from 150 on March 3 to 259 in the most recent announcement March 14.

One REPORTED. You seem to think every case is. It's only when a health care authority who will follow the fucking rules for reporting these things reports it.
That's in a region where people don't report cases. My guess would be that the actual number of people infected is probably an order of magnitude higher - if not more than that, given the scope of the spread of this particular strain.
It's important to better understand the situation before making a fool of one's self.
(I learned that from experience.)

In previous articles/threads, one poster* pointed out that the fatalities rate is abnormally high in this outbreak, which perhaps hints that under-reporting of cases is happening.
Of course, statistics don't wait for the situation where there is 1,000 cases and then someone dies. Deaths can happen at any point. In this outbreak, they certainly have.

That's the through line. Pretty much every problem we're facing is because conservatives are shitty people with shitty beliefs, making the world worse. Sometimes for personal, short term benefit, but in cases like this it's just going to get their kids sick and maybe dead.

If you don't have clear medical records that you got two vaccinations in your youth, and were born in 1957 or later, you might want to consider getting the MMR now. I got mine yesterday, fully covered by insurance, in the hope of avoiding even a single measle, mump, or rubellum. So far mild fatigue is my only symptom.

Here in France the recommendation is for adults born after 1980 to get their shot if they are not vaccinated. Those born before 1980 they assume they got measles anyway! I am born before 1980 and my medical records do not show I got measles, I'm a little bit nervous and would not mind getting vaccinated. Problem is finding a doctor who bypasses official recommendation won't be easy.

He’s not wrong, if you look at the broad sweep of history and prehistory… it’s just that vaccination, for measles and other nasties, is one of the great achievements of medical science. Once again, in the early seventies , the local school system where I grew up , told parents out right "If you kid is not vaccinated , then he or she is not getting into the school, no exception " Parents had to show doctors proof so that every child was protected from first grade on. That's how it was in the New England states and in my opinion , it should still be that way.

This is the way in many countries I would think. I had to provide proof of vaccinations of my daughters when they first went to school. And the idea of being exempted because of personal beliefs as it happens in (some parts of?) the US seems very weird to us. Maybe it's possible but I never heard of it.

There is "conservative", then there is reactionary fascist Nazi's. One group believes we should proceed slowly and cautiously, vetting changes to make sure they are beneficial (ie beneficial mostly to the current power structure). The other group believes in dictatorial power used primarily to benefit loyal "in group" people.To this mindset "out group" people are entirely disposable. Personally I am very liberal but I have more conservative relatives decrying the overthrow of the GOP by "that fascist moron Trump".

People who lived through what measles was like pre vaccine know what measles can do to you, and I bet they are vaccinated if they didn't get it already. Unfortunately, it has been so long, some parents see measles as something like chicken pox where their kids will get sick and be back in school a couple of days later. Looks like measles has plans, and measles doesn't care what you think. It knows what it can do

I wish every single one of them would drop dead tomorrow, so that sensible people could take over and start repairing the damage the conservatives have caused and get life back to a normal, sane, and safe state in this country.
