When your chief executive is a serial liar why would anyone believe what his subordinates are spouting? There is no national security issue with any currently licensed wind energy project. There is most likely "donations" from billionaire coal mine owners to keep the competition at bay so they can squeeze the maximum profit out of dirty energy. Another part of the puzzle: Washington's last coal plant, the Centralia Generating Station (TransAlta), was ordered by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in December 2025 to stay open past its scheduled shutdown at the end of 2025 until March 2026, citing grid reliability amid high demand from AI and data centers, though environmental groups and state officials dispute the "emergency" and the need for the extension, calling it an illegal move against long-term clean energy goals.
