Ubisoft’s first attempts at VR show impressive maturity (and lack of nausea)

I'll just be happy if they can get a game out the door that looks like advertised, doesn't have thousands of game breaking bugs on day one and runs at an acceptable framerate on something other than the equivalent of the Enterprise's holodeck system.

There may be a real reason they aren't working on a full fledged game yet. They always show off impressive looking demos. Then the full titles release and we get the above - bugs, graphical downgrades, framerate issues (and worst of all, on all platforms). To say I've lost all faith in Ubi as a developer is understating it.

they didn't forget, its probably why the eagle demo includes a beak in your field of vision.

At first when I read "Far Cry 3" I thought "how the hell did they manage to make a run-and-gun FPS not barf-inducing?!" But then I saw it was a cut scene where you're stuck in place and that stuff is pretty great in VR. The eagle thing sounds really neat too.

I'm still mostly looking forward to the non-gaming (or at least non *traditional* gaming) applications of VR but I really do love seeing what people come up with. I'd love to try out some of these demos on the DK2 but I haven't heard anything about any release outside of trade shows and exhibitions.

Oh man, now THAT was a missed opportunity!

Thanks for the the Trackmania VR impressions! If been keeping an eye out for some since it was shown at E3, but it seemed like no one was reporting on it outside the Ubisoft blog.

Was it all a trailing view of the car, or were all views available? Did they have the menus in VR already? Did they happen to mention whether the PC version will support VR, and with what headsets?
