Honestly, the most unfortunate thing about the space program is that there's only so much room in most of our memories for names and accomplishments.

As others have said, all of these fine folks have done their part in advancing humanity through the sciences and would be that we could remember all of their contributions, even the slightly-less-famous ones (many of whom laid the groundwork for subsequent triumphs).

I remember the first time I saw the "Astronauts Hall of Fame", building when visiting Cape Canaveral. The thing that immediately occurred to me was, what astronauts aren't in the hall of fame? Does anyone have the list of loser astronauts so we can all mock their paltry achievements?

According to the Nasa fact page there's only been 370 officially qualified astronauts since 1959. That's already a pretty selective group, what more do you need to do to make it into the AHoF?

I don't think mocking their paltry achievements would work unless you're one of the 370. And, if you are, doing the mocking is probably a fast way never to be an inductee. You might have to settle for damning them with faint praise. These days you can always explain faint praise as "I was trying to avoid being over the top and making people think you crave adulation like Trump."

Makes me expect that we'll soon hear about a new corporate-sponsored "President of the United States Hall of Fame," with our current president as the only honoree.
Spoiler: It already exists in the West Wing Colonnade courtesy of DJT. And it's just as pithy as you expect with the Joe "Autopen" Biden photograph.
