Thoughts on Hisense TVs?

I've been drooling over the Hisense U88QG TVs, but also coming across many individuals reporting issues w/ the brand on Reddit. What does everyone here think about these sets? I can get a Sony X90L for the same price, but the Hisense looks like a much more capable panel based on specs/reviews. Given that a TV typically lasts me 10-15 years... I'm a bit worried about reliability.

Thoughts?

Not sure how relevant it is to current TVs but I have an older 4k 50" Hisense in my living room I picked up around 9-10 years ago, and it's been solid and reliable (note: I don't use the smart features, I have had a succession of AppleTVs plugged into it over the years for that end of things)

We don't own a Hisense TV, but we have a couple of Hisense appliances in the kitchen. Well specced and attractive for the money, but not always well designed or reliable, and warranty support is short, time-wise. Our next TV, like our last, will be expensive and be required to last a long time (our current TV is 13 yo...!) so that will be a Samsung or possibly a Sony.

I absolutely love the one in the living room so much I bought a second for the bedroom. I only had one weird issue and it was quickly resolved by holding the home button on the remote. Every once in a great while, if I tell Google Nest Hub to turn off the TV, the remote wouldn't turn it back on but a voice command or the button on the tv itself would. Maybe twice since I've owned up. Some software updates later, issue was gone.

Picture is fine, it has enough inputs for my needs and works great with my soundbar. I have a Google streamer attached to the living room one and just use Google TV on the bedroom TV. Both work as they're supposed to.

I went through 5 of the first 50" models they introduced to the US market. The second one actually set itself on fire. After several returns (that 4 year warranty was needed) and finally a trip to my house by their techs they totally regutted the TV and it worked fine until I sold it last year. On Black Friday I bought a 65" U8N and it's been problem free so far. I only use it as a computer monitor.

Hisense seem to have the most dimming zones for any MiniLED TV for your buck, although their algorithm is reportedly not as good. However if you are mainly gaming they seem to have the best non-OLED MiniLED TVs as the sheer number of dimming zones seems to do the job well, and at least RTINGS rates them above the best Samsung and Sony MiniLEDs in that department.
