Yeah that's the one I remember! Didn't remember the name though.well Flash is one of the Sloths at the DMV, and at the end we find out he has a lead foot
Quick, do a reflex test! Pop a balloon behind the sloth and see if it reacts! You... may have to wait a while. I'd say sloth jokes never get old, but I think they just take longer.Do hair cells regenerate in the inner ears of sloths as they do in chickens? if not that poor sloth may have hearing worse than mine now.
Greed does:Do the other six deadly sins also get a cute animal mascot in a spacesuit?
Anybody else find the irony in Disney making fun of a Disney character that is industrial strength, military grade greedy?
no, because doing so helps make money, I do however expect they are working on a character that makes fun of DeSantisAnybody else find the irony in Disney making fun of a Disney character that is industrial strength, military grade greedy?
He's got SOME redeeming qualities... but not many. The guy makes all his money off raiding other culture's sacred artifacts so he's a colonizer. Apparently Forbes once did some math and determined that he's the richest person in all of fiction.Anybody else find the irony in Disney making fun of a Disney character that is industrial strength, military grade greedy?
Ursula seems like a pretty good fit. Is the new Little Mermaid in the can yet, or is there still time for some post-production fun?no, because doing so helps make money, I do however expect they are working on a character that makes fun of DeSantis
DeSantis sounds so close to "De-Santa" that he could make a good Oogie Boogie.Ursula seems like a pretty good fit. Is the new Little Mermaid in the can yet, or is there still time for some post-production fun?
I think even Disney realizes that it'd be a crime to take that masterpiece away from Stop Motion.DeSantis sounds so close to "De-Santa" that he could make a good Ooogie Boogie.
honestly it'd probably make more sense to do it with a Pixar story, it's hard to be quite as hilariously subtle in life action, and Pixar is known for sneaking things inUrsula seems like a pretty good fit. I suppose it could be seen that way. I didn't see the second one but I got the impression that Elsa's deal is she doesn't have a deal, that is, she isn't really interested in romance of any sort. I can relate.honestly it'd probably make more sense to do it with a Pixar story, it's hard to be quite as hilariously subtle in life action, and Pixar is known for sneaking things in
edit alternatively, if they do another Frozen, they could have Elsa find a girlfriend, I mean her arc is already a literal coming out story essentially
True but I am someone who goes off the rule of thumb that unless otherwise specified all characters are either Pansexual or Panromantic Ace. Anyways the first one was her accepting herself and letting go of the societal expectations that kept her closed in because she's different, second one was her discovering more about herself and why she's different,I suppose it could be seen that way. Works as allegory for a lot of things, so that's fine. Disney has been rather hesitant to actually fully embrace that sort of representation though, usually calling this or that completely irrelevant side character their "first gay character". I think they're up to five firsts. My general assumption about a character's interests romantic or otherwise is... I don't think about it until it becomes a character or plot point. Until then I don't care, but that kind of fits with me not really thinking about that in general. So, I guess I'm not defaulting to any assumption? I mean except for Judge Frollo. now yes that difference is her magic, but I worded it that way because it makes the implicit allegory pretty obvious.
no they completely diverted from the Snow Queen the moment they wrote and had the VA sing "Let it go"Works as allegory for a lot of things, so that's fine. You know, did they ever bring the twisted mirror into these things? That one that shows only the most wicked interpretation and got shattered so splinters of the mirror ended up in the eyes and hearts of countless people making them see only the ugliness in the world? That's apparently what gave the snow queen her powers in the original story. I mean, Disney changes fairy tales all the time to better fit a modern audience, I'm just saying that mirror would be a good allegory for like... I dunno hate spewing outlets like Fox.
Well yes, they diverted in a lot of places. I never said that was the only difference, and Disney does that stuff all the time so it's fine.no they completely diverted from the Snow Queen the moment they wrote and had the VA sing "Let it go"

I haven't heard of that movie. I also heard one of their cartoons, the one they're cancelling, has a gay couple in the lead role. So, that's something? But by and large, Disney's open support has been, as hilariously put by Red Letter Media, very "passive progressive".Strange World had a gay protagonist [the youngest Clade].
I'm not sure how they edited the film for release in countries like China though

in the future for less accepting audiences they could always borrow a trick from the Japanese, with "cousins"It was Disney's big Thanksgiving animated movie release last year, but I'm not surprised you haven't heard of it.
For some reason*, Bob "Don't Say Gay" Iger's Disney didn't seem to do much marketing on the first animated film with an explicity gay protagonist...
*If I roll my eyes any more I'm in danger of falling over
It's a real shame, because it's a fun movie with a very relevant message
The Owl House wrap-up double-length episodes (because Disney cancelled it a season early - I'm sure the gay protagist had nothing to do with it) are also now up on YouTube [and surprising Disney execs with the view count, because they genuinely didn't understand it had a cult following]
Huh? What kind of trick is that?in the future for less accepting audiences they could always borrow a trick from the Japanese, with "cousins"
90s English dub of sailor moon (didn't see it but I've heard about this) made at least 1 gay couple very affectionate "cousins" for the US version.Huh? What kind of trick is that?
And it sounds even more wrong that way!90s English dub of sailor moon (didn't see it but I've heard about this) made at least 1 gay couple very affectionate "cousins" for the US version.

Also didn't some countries just retcon Haruka into a boy? Who... turned into a girl?it wouldn't surprise me if that was the intent,
did they change her name too as part of the retcon? Also didn't some countries just retcon Haruka into a boy? Who... turned into a girl?
So... gay is okay so long as it's... INCEST?!90s English dub of sailor moon (didn't see it but I've heard about this) made at least 1 gay couple very affectionate "cousins" for the US version.
No no no, it's not incest because they're not lovers! They're just very affectionate family members. Little girls won't pick up on those subtle discrepancies! Right?So... gay is okay so long as it's... INCEST?!
I just watched that scene. It had all the familiarity of a Disney princess falling in love with their prince charming. It had a painted backdrop like the cover of a romance novel or something. No no no, it's not incest because they're not lovers! They're just very affectionate family members. Look, I'm ace so I'm not too good at stuff like this, but sometimes the sexual tension is so thick even I can see it.
Case in point, this other kid's cartoon: (Mind you, Lex Luthor is an abusive stalker bastard in this scene as well but that doesn't make it better.)

Yep. The localizers had an issue: they couldn't remove Uranus and Neptune from the series, they're too integral. But they also couldn't find a way to paper over their obvious romance convincingly. They did what they thought would give them an out and just hoped kids wouldn't notice. But, as you pointed out, it's very VERY obvious from the way they're constantly being presented.I just watched that scene. got to protect those delicate flowers, especially the lilies.So... gay is okay so long as it's... INCEST?!
That doesn't sound like Japan's doing, it sounds like the very American localizers screwed up.

The Question is a nutjob going on about the sinister purpose of aglets.the question is more how many parents pay attention to what their kids watch
Did you compare Lex's red sun lamp room to a romantic sunset? Alright that got a laugh.these days bisexual (pride) sunsets seem popular
it's where the sunset is drawn in such a way that it's actually a bisexual pride flag hiding in plain sight, usually appears when one or both the characters are bisexual, but happen to be both the same sex and confessing their feelings.Did you compare Lex's red sun lamp room to a romantic sunset?
