If the game is soooo baaad. And soooo broken,
Why are you playing it buddy???

What a total pain in the butt,
Maybe he’ll learn something from this, seems like EA has been pretty clear about the escalation and gave him plenty of chances to change.

Nothing of value was lost here.

Dare I say it? Good job EA.

The guy may be an offensive shithead, but throwing him entirely off the platform is overstepping.

Revoke his online multiplayer access? Sure

But to ban him from every single game in his EA account? Yeah, no.

Well considering one can just make another account and buy the games one cares about again , it’s not that big of a deal

Now being forced to buy EA game twice , that might be a little hard to swallow . Hell ,buying them once is hard to swallow

I loathe EA. They fuck up almost every game they touch. The buy studios I love and then strangle them until gangrene sets in. But, dear lord, this man is absolutely horrid, and they're entirely right to ban him.

As the article points out very thoroughly, it's not like he hasn't been warned many, many times. At some point, if people don't believe the warnings, you have to do something.

I think an interim step that probably should have been taken sooner (eg, six months ago) was a full ban from all EA products and services, but only for a year. That would make sure he really understood what he was risking with his behavior. And then, after that, if he stuck more than a toe or so over the line, make the ban permanent. (edit: or if he tried to evade the ban by using alternate accounts, as they're talking about downthread, immediately make the ban permanent as well.)

At 25, however, he's old enough to know better. I think my approach would be slightly better, but it's not like I think EA really got it wrong here. On the whole, it's the right outcome.

I mean, EA has kind of tried everything except this for the last year.
At some point, it is about safeguarding their other users from this abuse.

Is it harsh yeah, is the kid an idiot who left them no other option? Yeah.... pretty much...

Don't be a completely abusive shithead and it won't happen. I cannot fathom how low your standards must be if you think that's an onerous burden.

Some people like the game so much, they want the game to be even better. You can quickly see this in DestinyTheGame subreddit.

Heck, if the game is relatively easy to mod, gamers will fix it by themselves.

But the way the dude spews his "feedback" is totally wrong. I don't think those even can be called as feedback or critics...

This is a warning to all about criticising EA on YouTube and Twitch, do so and they will fuck your channel over.

Nonsense, plenty of streamers have highlighted bad things about EA and their games, and still are fine,
Shroud and kandyrew both have made clear complaints about apex crashes and ea practices, and got sponsored regardless.

Its about not being a total antisocial jerk.

Can't he just make new account?

Heck, he probably doesn't even need to make new email account because you can just add "dot" anywhere on Gmail or add +suffix before @. This will make the email looks new to almost all services

As soon as you stream with it, that account is banned too.

I'm sure he can just create another account, however he'll have to register under a different name or pay with a different method. If he tries to stream again, it'll just be a matter of time before that account gets banned as well.

Either way, he's an idiot.

It's quite probable that EA has also gone to the trouble of a hardware ban, which means just making a new account won't work.

Even if he gets past that, though, as I noted in the article EA can easily stop him from streaming their games (if his viewers can find him, EA can too). That's probably their ultimate lever of control here.

I don't follow eSports or streamers in general, but just from reading these types of articles over the years it seems like they are filled with assholes and game companies who are terrible at consistently enforcing ToS/rules.

I also don't really understand the comparison in this article between the asshole and cheaters. Cheaters ruin games for anyone playing them, and other competitors if in a competition. His behavior is entitled and annoying, but I don't see how that compares to players caught cheating (unless there is more behavior here that isn't listed and someone who is more into this would already know?)

I brought up the cheater examples only because they're usually the strictest punishments given out by game publishers. This is a stricter punishment (in some cases) for someone who is not accused of cheating.

Dude.

You made EA the good guys.

Seriously. I'm reading the story, and that was echoing in my head the whole time.

He has nothing ood to say about them, but continues to play their games and use them as a platform for his livelihood.

Something must be broken between his ears.
