I'll be pissed if my Touchpad gets JB before my Verizon Galaxy Nexus. Still, nice to see the community stepping it up and getting things done.

Well, the good news is that there's a CM10 build for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus as well... IIRC, there's also a stock Jellybean ROM floating around for it that's modified from the GSM Galaxy Nexus ROM.

Toro (Verizon GNex) is back in AOSP, so the roms aren't hacked up from the GSM builds anymore.

I'm betting we'll see at least an official jb alpha on touchpad before the verizon nexus gets it from the carrier. Verizon loves to drag its feet on updates, and a november or december release wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

I've reverted to webOS due to wifi issues at work and am finding myself falling in love again with this wonky OS, and not just for the superior battery life <3

I have a couple of Touchpads. Aside from having a working camera, the only thing I'd miss after removing WebOS completely would be the amazingly good interface for history and bookmarks in the browser. (I wouldn't actually miss the rest of the browser.)

Chrome and Firefox are both available for Android tablets, you know. Download the Firefox Beta build for tablet support.

Was that a response to me? If so, I have to wonder how familiar you are with the webos browser. That one particular portion of the interface really is superior (imo, of course).

Devices which have gone stable will get no more releases until CM10. Touchpad is still on nightlies, so I think there will still be some releases between now and CM10. The latest nightly is very good though, I'm not sure what else they can improve really. We can all look forward to CM10 on Touchpad, the little tablet that could!

Can you guys help a noob out? I'm running a build from about a month ago and I'd like to flash to this last version. How do I do so without losing all my settings, apps, and app data?

Boot into CWM, clear cache and Dalvik cache, flash the latest build, and reboot.

Finally jumped on the bandwagon earlier this week and put CM9 on my Touchpad for the first time. I went with the "final" 8/19 nightly. It really does breathe new life into the tablet -- I've been using it every day this week whereas before I'd go weeks or months without touching it.

Battery life seems acceptable. It's getting through the whole day with heavy usage. I'm also overclocked to 1.5ghz using Voltage Control.

I really wish that I could get the battery life that Cedric describes. Today, I'm at 46% after 4 hours of moderate use. (Wi-Fi on). I estimate that I get 5 hours of use with this device, maybe 11 hours on standby. Does this sound normal?
That's about what I'm getting. The software is much improved over gingerbread, but the battery life is even more atrocious. It's a shame.

8/19 finally fixed the random reboots while sleeping for good. I'm happy with it until CM10 rolls in.

TFR, would these be the reboots causing me to come home to a dead tablet when it's been just sitting plugged in overnight?

/me needs to update before heading to PAX tomorrow.

I'm not sure.

Updating only takes a few minutes, so you might as well give it a try.

I did say heavy usage, but it's probably more moderate in retrospect. It just seems heavy since it's been nothing but a fancy desk clock last 10 months or so. :)

That said, I've been using it at work a good chunk of the day then again in the evening and its been between 10-20% when I put it on the touchstone at the end of the day. Wi-fi on, but very little video and gaming.

Thanks, Cedric.

It would be interesting to know what kind of use you are putting it to. I am using mine mostly to read and annotate PDF files, with the screen at its lowest setting, occasionally switching over to GMail for brief periods, and leaving Wi-Fi connected. Battery seems to be dropping at about 15-20% per hour (like I said, about 5 hours of real use). With WebOS, battery life *seems* significantly better, but I haven't actually used it enough to be able to say for sure.

Mostly Google Reader, Chrome, GMail, Exchange Mail, Google Voice and Evernote. I've left wi-fi on and have the screen on auto-brightness.

My experience as well. Never really used WebOS much more than a few minutes here and there.

Over three weeks after reverting to WebOS on the Touchpad I find myself wanting to use Android only very rarely. I am surprised tbh. I suppose this reflects just how rarely I feel the need to use Android-specific apps when they aren't immediately available (I can't actually think of any apps I miss off the top of my head).

Installed the CE port of luna and it's a pure pleasure to use. The tabbed card-stack feature almost makes me want to ditch Advanced Browser. Switching apps just by swiping in from the side is also a welcome addition. Lower minimum brightness makes my life a lot easier.

I guess if the only thing you do on your tablet is browse the web, it's not terrible. Except that WebOS browser is kinda terrible. So actually it is terrible.

I would actually be willing to give Open WebOS a whirl just for the hell of it. Except it doesn't support any actual hardware at this time. I don't even know why they are bothering.

The thing is, I use my touchpad a lot at work, where Android can't even reliably connect to the wifi. While I do miss the android browser and Android's information-sharing system, I'd miss connectivity a lot more. Similarly, I get far better battery life out of WebOS atm.

App-wise, I prefer the WebOS (HD) versions of Evernote, Spotify, Facebook and Splashtop. In WebOS I can switch from Splashtop to another app and then back without losing the connection. In Android I always have to re-connect. wIRC is an IRC-app that suits me very well. I still love the mail-client. I prefer WebOS's notifications (and like that Android's system has evolved in its general direction). I prefer to have the copy/paste options pop up right next to the selected text rather than at the top of the screen. In terms of usability, I very much prefer WebOS's slide-in/flick gestures and the card system. I miss that a lot on Android. The slide-in-to-switch-app feature is a welcome addition to WebOS.

Text reflow and proper tabbing in the browser would be hella nice (the new tabbed stack view goes some way towards mitigating the lack of proper tabbed browsing, but it's just not the same) and I'd love to have better apps for reading e-books and PDFs.

I think perhaps my initial surprise at enjoying the return to the new WebOS has been replaced by new understanding
