...both governors like to brag about their states being business-friendly
Asking a GOP supporter to refrain from projection is more or less the point of the frog and scorpion tale.Try not to project your own political party's flaws onto everyone else.
And their governor is floating the idea of launching a presidential campaign. It may be an interesting primary. DeathSentence is actively hostile to human decency. Abbot is merely incompetent.3 minutes, 46 seconds to be exact. Just a handful of seconds really to having to endure a 19th century lifestyle for the several weeks or months it would have taken to repair everything.
Fun fact: Texas property tax rates are among the highest in the country. More than twice California's.Sure it did. Yes, Fort Bend is the wealthiest county in Texas. But the state provides about 40% of public school funding, and mandates “recapture” to fund poorer districts from richer ones’ property taxes. Many districts do turn to bonds, in addition to the property tax (which the state caps), as the bonds are not subject to recapture.
Even rich districts are underfunded, but unlike Fort Bend, Austin ISD passed its bonds while dropping property taxes. Rural counties are hurt even more by the constant state-level attacks on the public school budget, so hopefully they get the legislature to back off on school vouchers this year (call your rep if you’re in Texas).
Particularly since Fox News' internal emails confirmed hosts were knowingly lying on the air with the full support of their leadership. That just sounds like torture. Ignoring for the moment that the Wall Street Journal has essentially become a clearinghouse for all the stuff that ends up on the Fox News cutting room floor, just going out of your way to read additional stupid comments... Is it like a graduate thesis project or something? That's about the only reason I can think of for willingly subjecting yourself to that sort of torture.
If so, they are doing it wrong. Again, US News and World report Texas ranks 34th in education. California comes in at 20th. Both are in a better place financially to improve.Irony: Texan! Now then--
I might be wrong, but I always thought that Texas' oil and gas revenues, in part, went to support the education system here in the state, since the state's initial inception as a nation in fact. Did something change, or have I been in error this entire time?
Don't forget, a rising tide floats all boats, even it kills people not on a yacht. That would benefit actual people, and not large corporations run by people who make more money in a day than some people in Texas make in a year. Clearly the billionaires need the money more!
