Ted Cruz says bitcoin will stabilize Texas electric grid—here’s why he’s wrong

Ted doesn't care about being wrong, fake, or even defending his wife from personal insults as long as it helps him in politics.

He is the most smarmy, hypocritical, hack in the GQP, and that's saying something.

Hey! That's not fair, he also didn't defend is father either.

Let’s not forget throwing his 10 year old daughter under the bus when he had to explain why he popped off to Cancun during the storm!

I have yet to see a problem for which Bitcoin is a good solution!
If you have a large fortune and want to have a smaller one. Of course, a winery does that too and is better for the environment,

If I put X into a winery 10 years ago, or X into BTC 10 years ago, would I really have been better off with a winery?

Yes. You can drink the wine, and you didn't contribute to the destruction of the planet.

Let me get this straight. A sitting United States Senator is openly calling for his home state to actively mine a currency whose rabid supporters want it to supplant the US Dollar?

Is it just me or is that odd?

It seem odd, but he's definitely a hypocrite, and he's not very bright. So that explains the oddity.

Err, Ted has degrees from Princeton and Harvard - he is no dummy. But, that, added to narcissism and megalomania and being a card carrying member of a death-CULT isn't good, in fact, it is more dangerous.

Those aren't schools for quality education. None of the so-called ivy-league schools are. They've been commodified into irrelevance by corporate cabals for their bro-culture elitist children, so those bro-culture elitists children can congregate and form their own future-corporate cabals. Any idiot with a few functioning brain cells and large enough endowments from their parents can get whatever degree they want. That's how Jared Kushner got his -- Mommy and Daddy bought it for him.

Are people on this website even real? The anti-crypto stance on this website is so laughably boomer I can't help but smile. Literally no one I interact with, in real life or on other internet forums, thinks like the people on this board write. Keyboard warriors, lol. Continue to type yourselves right out of relevance.
Are you even real? Your crypto stance seems to be that it's good for everything in every situation, including to FIX POWER GRID ISSUES.

You're fucked in the head. Just like Teddy C.

You're new, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt here...if you take issue with something said, present logical arguments and facts to the contrary. No one here is going to take you seriously if all you've got is "my echo chamber has a different opinion than you".

Any time I see comparisons of the cost of bitcoins and adding new generating stations to help I can't help but think: In all cases, isn't there a better use of the power than bitcoin? I mean, really, in the end, isn't proof of work equal to proof of waste?

If there's excess capacity (enough to facilitate *coin mining), then it's just better to shut these plants down, as they're not needed.

Power consumed by 1 Bitcoin transaction: 1,810.74 kWh
Power consumed by 100,000 VISA transactions: 148.63 kWh

Even if some other cryptocurrencies might be somewhat less wasteful, whatever advantages cryptocurrency might have don't seem worth the colossal waste of energy.
