Amid speculation that the PS3 action title would be pushed into next year, Sony has revealed its lineup of first-party games coming "throughout the year," including God of War III, Uncharted 2, Infamous, and Heavy Rain. Still, the company did not specify firm dates.

Unfortunately I never had a PS2 so I've missed out on the first 2, but I have been playing it on the PSP and the game is impressive (on the weakest platform for it). I think God of War III is probably the first game that could be a system seller for Sony, especially if they get the price down by the time it comes out.

Sony does this all the time... GOW will NOT be out this year, and if it is, it will be a rush job, and nobody wants that.. So they are just trying to get a bit of talk going on, that's it.
Sony needs to come to terms with the fact that they lost this generation, plain and simple and get on with it. This way they can start concentrating inward again instead of concentrating on their competitors.
Most of us that have PS3's are more serious gamers, and most of us have at least 2 of this gens consoles if not all 3..They aren't going to tap into the casual market anytime soon so IMHO they should concentrate on the type of games that are lacking on the other 2 consoles, LIKE GOW3 and Uncharted...just keep putting out great games like that and people will come... it might take some time given the economy and that the PS3 is still pretty pricey, but the HC gamers won't want to miss out on games of that quality for sure.

The 360 sells like crap in Japan but then again so does the PS3, just a better smelling version, although a game exclusive for the 360 can give it a burst past the PS3 for a few weeks. Call it spin if you want but those are the rough numbers.

"Normal" means average since the last quarter of last year. What about those PSP software numbers?

If you want to look World-wide the PS3 sales still stink.
About 21 million in sales since inception wordwide vs. 25 million for the 360 - if 21 mill stinks then I'd assert so does 25. 21 million surpasses the Gamecube's lifetime sales and is close to the original xbox.

Keep on spinning. I don't understand why a console has to be a failure in some people's minds if it's last place in sales in a field of three. -- View image here: http://episteme.meincmagazine.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif --

21 million PS3s is an estimate on the high range
25 million 360s sounds like 3.5 million short (give or take).

The YOY sales of the PS3 decreased!
The YOY sales of the 360 and Wii increased.

It is a recession and the PS3 sales are slowing and Sony's ship may not be sinking yet but it sure has some big leaks to seal.

The PS3 is the closet thing to a failure when it is coming off the hardware and software supremacy that was the PS1 and definitely was the PS2!

Calling the PS3 a success and making excuses that it plays movies and came out later etc. etc. "10 year plan!" is spin

I am a gamer so I am interested in gaming topics and I am especially interested in GoWIII although it is unfortunate that it is only on the PS3, but I'm not the kind of person who buys a system for one game (especially when the game isn't out yet or for the foreseeable future).

As a investor and someone who is also interested in the business side it is interesting to see a leader in one industry screw things up repeatedly and go from hero to zero. At this point in the generation it is unlikely that the order of things will change much and things don't look good for Sony at the moment.

Developers don't care who came out first or not they only care about which system is easiest/cheapest to develop for and which systems will sell the most copies of their software.

We're all in trouble if developers move to the Wii exclusively just to make a quick buck.

Luckily most of the big game titles worth buying are financed by the console makers themselves, so this isn't an issue. Plus I think the larger developers are after more than easy development -- they want to produce solid, impressive games they can be proud of. This doesn't mean it can't be for the Wii or even the 360 -- but I think we'll start to see some more amazing stuff on the ps3.
