Lack of information density was one of the reasons I left /. behind five years ago -- low signal/noise ratio.
I think that was referring to the front page which had very high information density.
There's no doubt that the snr for /. comments has been effectively zero for a long time, but it wasn't always that way. I've seen the same thing happening in just the couple of years I've been reading Ars - probably because of all of us slashdotters migrating over here. Yes, I did include myself in that "us".
