I'm not entirely clear what you're trying to say here. Are you saying that companies can't give "background" briefs that are not quite formal? Are you aware that it's common practice for people to speak "off the record" or "on condition of anonymity"?Vycia":h1moljhd said:said the unnamed Samsung executive
Nice to see Samsung will hire those without a name. I bet Apple would have assumed his resume was an error and tossed it without a second look.

People have been posting comments like these ever since screens exceeded 4". Maybe you yourself won't buy it, but there's definitely a market for it. I will be surprised if by Note V they haven't merged the 7" tablet and the phone.

I also hope that they go with a smaller screen, if not it would look like they created a popular market (+5 inches phones) and then abandoned it.

Isn't that the case? It's a quad core with 4 high power and 4 low power cores and one is active at a time?
Otherwise you can call an Optimus GPU setup dual-GPU, no?

Or maybe you're just another Apple fan who thinks there's something to have a dig at when in fact there's nothing at all untoward.

big.LITTLE is indeed spec'd capable of using all 8 cores at once, if needed. Although AFAIK it is not a standard, so Samsung could have gone either way on that. I'm hoping they have gone that route, otherwise it is a very dirty marketing ploy they have used calling it "octo-core".

Have the small phone in your pocket for phone calls and maybe texts, get the phablet out of the bag or backpack for convenient net access. Well, of course you could also do this with a decent not too large smartphone and a Nexus 7.

I always thought the same thing and then I bought a Note 2. Now I can't imagine EVER going back to a "small" screen phone. Pricier components? Don't know, but unlocked is about the same price as an unlocked iPhone.

The point is that you can have 1 SIM in there that has a low fee for phone calls but high fees for data and another SIM in there with low data fees and high call fees. So use 1 SIM for calls, and 1 for data.CeridianMN":32k2wmkg said:The gist of my thought is, why run with 2 SIMs when 1 will do?

Does android even efficiently support big little? Apple has already shown, its not the general purpose processor that gives you silky transitions, its the GPU.

Hmm, I was very sceptical about huge smartphones and now I think I was wrong. Smartphones have become such an integral part of people's lifes that the burden of a huge phone seems to be bearable. But this also means people have become very unwilling to even leave their homes without their phone and *always* carrying such a monster seems to be a tiny bit too much, I think. Although there surely are people who never go anyway without a bag anyway.
