The most embarrassing thing isn't that it crashed on the surface of the Moon, it's that it was originally aiming for a church in Odessa.

Yeah, they did the same thing to this Austrian/German guy back in the Thirties and Forties.

But he had such a great rocket development program! It seems almost churlish to mention that they were aiming those rockets straight at my grandparents...
