Ha. Yeah, the US got a bunch of crappy deals, right? Toilet paper as well, I think?

The UK deals were pretty good last year, though!

Why do you think they are keeping TTIP so secret? No more good Prime Day deals for you! :)

Amazing how some retailers out there still manage to trick people and sell their stuff. Prices on some products are surprisingly high and have been definitely increased before the Prime Day. Enough to compare some 'Computer and Accessories' and 'Electronics' products which come with different options. Very often the product with worse components (e.g. computer with 8 vs 16 or 32GB of RAM, or RPi 4 inch touchscreen vs 7 inch version) has much higher price before the 'amazing offer' starts. I know that 52% off looks better than 20%, but this is kind of behaviour that I really hate and this kind of shit should be banned whether it is a local supermarket, shoe store or an online retailer.

FWIW, the discounts I've listed here are from the lowest price it was selling at previously - not inflated RRPs or anything like that. But yes, the discounts listed on the Prime Day hub page are a bit disingenuous.

For most (looks like almost all) items in the Prime Day sale they display both the RRP/MSRP and the listed price before going on offer during Prime Day just above the current Prime Day price. The % savings shown from the grid view of offers may be presented in a somewhat misleading manner, but when you go to to the product page you can see how much the Prime Day sale actually cuts the price.

Did you see that SoIaF is also very cheap - just £20 or so. Though maybe you don't want to get them indoctrinated on that stuff...

I've been checking throughout the day and so far all the deals have been "meh". Anything I'd actually want is barely 5% cheaper than it would be normally, which is hardly worth an impulse buy.

As a more egregious example, The Division download version is £26 on prime day special, and supposedly £39.99 normally. But the frigging DVD version is £29 without any discount. This is taking the piss quite frankly.

Arguably the Xbox One and PS4 bundles are good deals, but it's a terrible time to buy either of them right now with new models just around the corner.

I'd seriously be questioning whether it's worth Ars covering Prime Day in the future.

I dunno - those SSD and memory card deals seem pretty good to me. (The SSDs are well below what they usually cost at other component shops, I think.)

That is true actually, I can't find it much cheaper than £170 anywhere else. If you hadn't quoted my whole post I'd edit it to be less absolute. :)
