Other than the convenience feature of having a single cartridge contain all your games, what legitimate reason exists for playing game backups on a Switch at the moment?
Buy new cartridges, or buy them again through the online store. The idea that one could buy a game once, and make use of it forevermore even after the loss/destruction of the physical media, is mind-boggling.
You know what's funny? There is a method Nintendo could handle a copy of a cartridge tied to a specific device, and there is a method Nintendo could actively follow to require full-price repurchasing of valid software by the same user.
I don't see how the purchase of a game card in a physical format entitles the purchaser to use of the game in perpetutity, beyond the existence of the purchased media. That doesn't make sense at all.
You're taking my position well beyond a reasonable expectation of protection against damage during normal use, or defects within the reasonable life of a product such as the extraordinary failure rate of WB video discs.
