A new Alien vs Predator game is on the way, but unfortunately details are still very light at this point. Thankfully, the game is being developed by Rebellion Developments, who previously worked on some of the better games in the franchise.

You just have to have all the proper ingredients including a decent script, proper casting, and a good director (look how well Alien and Aliens were as well as the fun factor of the original Predator). I'd love to see how Luc Besson would tackle an AvP film or maybe a veteran of the original series in James Cameron or Ridley Scott.

As for this. This is great news! I know I've been clamoring for a new AvP game for some time, and it's comforting to know that Rebellion is behind the development. I am really looking forward to this one.

It was nothing but another beat-'em-up. Fun, yes. Better than AvP on the PC, hell no. Name one moment where you actually jumped out of your skin like the multiple times most gamers did with the original PC title. The game was truly a great first person survival horror title. If Rebellion can just do half as much with better graphics, physics, and some unique gameplay modes I'll be happy.

AvP arcade - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8gz5oQzops

AvP PC (Alien) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayBugyNlB-8

I disliked that the levels were unconnected and that the game only had a limited save system. For that last part, I used a third-party program that you ran in the background and which allowed unlimited saving on all difficulty levels.

AvP2: I liked most of the levels, including the fact that there were several outdoor levels, that you got to fight alongside members of the same species and especially that the alien started as a face-hugger and had to find a host. I disliked how scripted the levels were and the over-use of cutscenes to move the story along. I also didn't care much for the alien character models. I thought the ones in the first game were truer to the original design of the alien.

quote:

Originally posted by Nagumo:
It was nothing but another beat-'em-up. Whether it's Time Crisis, House of the Dead, or T2.

Is Aliens: Extermination just a "rails shooter" like those games? I know that traditionally, arcade light-run games have all been rails shooters where the player has no control over their movement and simply shoots all the enemies on the screen, however there's no rule that says such games couldn't be full first person shooters. Managing the controls might be a challenge since the pulse rifle would take both hands, but I'm sure they could come up with something.

The original AvP game for the PC was the best of the series, EVAR! I couldn't even finish the game as the marine....running around in near total darkness, with just my motion detector...seeing the blips approaching. Remember the original PC game had two disks too, that second disk was just music and for the marines made the game creepy as hell. I finished both Predator and Alien storylines, but could only get about half way through as the marine, my heart was going a mile a minute...and normally I don't get that tense during games.

I remember my buddy and I played the multiplayer quite a bit. In multiplayer I loved playing as a marine, it literally felt like it was right out of the Aliens movie. We were going down this stairwell and bam, aliens just started coming at us from upstairs and downstairs...we held our ground for a good 2 minutes before we finally succumbed to the alien horde.

Loved that game...I really hope this one can capture that magic.

CPS2 AvP remains the best beat 'em up (ever) and one of the best co-op games (ever). The game balance is fantastic, the mechanics and special moves are the ultimate evolution of years of Capcom's experience, and, most of all, the game's fun.

They don't stop spawning until you reach the door at the other end.

I played all the levels on expert because I wanted to unlock the bonus levels. I used a ton of saves though.
