Simple. People didn't take civics classes in school and people lack basic critical thinking skills. You don't have to have a PhD to be able to see the stupidity of Trump's admin the first go around. This time people clearly though he would do a better job and frankly when people have tight wallets they will listen to anyone who claims they will make things better. Exhibit A: The introduction of the Nazi party when there was a massive economic collapse in Germany, and a slump that cascaded into one of the worst worldwide recessions in history. Hitler didn't say make Germany great again but its the exact same tone and feel of what Trump has been using for almost a decade now. And they eat it up now just as easily as they did then. Hell even faster. What the orange shit stain has done in 9 months has to make even Putin wonder if he could push harder.
I was, unfortunately, stuck on the train with all those people after the Madison Square Garden thing. There really is no hope of getting through to those idiots. They were parroting that "100k turnout" bullshit that very night, and they were fucking there. They should have been able to see with their own two eyes that the streets weren't literally crowded for blocks and blocks with people who couldn't get in. I was there for the World Series, an event that people actually do turn out in droves for. Yankee fucking Stadium holds 40 some thousand people. Madison Square Garden holds about 20k. These people are so delusional they can imagine two Yankees Stadiums worth of people crowding around the outside of MSG. It just didn't fucking happen, but they were talking about it like it did.

Of course everything else they had to say was fucking insane. One was bitching about how they received absentee ballots for the people who previously lived at their address and they assumed that means Democrats are double voting because her first thought was to jump to vote fraud while a normal person would think "hey, this isn't mine, it's literally illegal to fill it out, I'm not going to do that." I think it was the same woman who was complaining that her new doctor was asking questions about her health. You know, her fucking job. She was upset that the doctor was trying to explain something to her in simple terms. Yeah, she probably realized you were a fucking idiot and you were ignoring her advice. I got the feeling she was upset that her doctor was a woman. It's weird that so many hard right women are misogynistic. Or maybe it was a race thing and I missed out on the clue. I was trying my best to ignore them, but they were pretty excited to spew their vile horseshit since they assumed they were in like-minded company.

Whatever you're picturing in your head, that's probably not far off. Normally the trains have people of all types in my experience, but not on that ride.

So. Where is the alpha document for Project 2029?

Surely the Democrats have a plan, right? There's got to be a nice checklist of steps that have to be taken, right?

Like:
1} Fire RFKJR.
2} Fire all of his appointees.
3} Hire someone with a minimum of five degrees and ten years of recent experience working in a large medical setting.
4} Enact laws that require all panel members have similar credentials.

Where is it?

Best we can do is a sternly worded letter.

If we survive this, we need to start implementing mandatory IQ tests for anyone who wants to hold political power.

The moronocracy cannot be allowed to survive.
They're not stupid.

They're committed.

Worth repeating:

Reading a novel that involves abnormal psych.

This seems spot on:

"The way they rationalize their behavior is that they don’t rationalize at all. They’re doing what they think is absolutely necessary. It’s what they believe in to their very core."

"Without ACIP recommendations for a vaccine, insurance coverage would be an open question, and vulnerable children would simply lose access entirely."

One hopes the insurers will figure out that vaccinations are cheaper than treatment, even in aggregate.

For the children, one can only hope that charitable organizations will step in, whether by direct payments to the drug companies to make the shots really cheap or free, or by running/funding public health fairs.

It only seems like it may be never-ending. After just three short years or so, American democracy will, no doubt, once again provide at least a modestly competent government.
What evidence of this do you have ? all I'm hearing is blind head in the sand gee I hope this all blows over soon idiocy. These murderous sociopathic criminal assclowns have no intention of letting democracy do any damn thing ever if the can. So get ready for a bumpy ride. Death to Fascists! And I mean all of them.

I don't doubt the 17 members that were fired from this panel were highly qualified. I don't doubt that at all. To me, though, regardless of the level of qualification... if ANY of them were being paid so much as 1 whole penny from ANY pharma company... they are compromised and dismissing them seems perfectly reasonable.
So we should also seek military experts who have never been paid by the military, pastors who have never been paid by any religion, politicians who have never been paid by any government, air crash investigators who have never been paid by any airline, nutritionists who have never been paid by either food or supplement companies, etc. Unfortunately, in the real world, you can't make a living by "being on a panel". Should the panel members work at Starbucks the rest of the time?

We're trying the politician thing right now, but it doesn't seem to be working out.

Both of my brothers are avid Trump supporters (and very ignorant, to boot).
One is a Young Earth Creationist, and thought that a rock at the south pole falling into a hole would be moving "up" (after all, it is the south pole). To be fair, he did immediately realize his error when I pointed it out. But, sheesh.
That brother strongly supports RFK Jr.
He contends (with some validity) that chronic medical conditions are rampant, and far worse than in the past (though, the numbers he claims are very misleading).
As if saying that we (as a populace) should lose weight, eat healthier, and exercise more, excuses any and all damage to medical research, to the future of our ability to fight disease, to filling the most influential positions with quacks who (often motivated by religion) eschew facts and support quack nostrums, to convincing hordes of ignoramuses to not vaccinate their children (or themselves), to destroying years of medical progress.
I would not be surprised if medical data is being deleted or corrupted, to match the conclusions RFK desires.
The only thing that may be preventing this is the possibility of being caught, perhaps due to backups.

Any positive impact RFK Jr may have on eating habits (which is doubtful) doesn't justify drilling holes into heads to let out evil spirits.

It is ludicrous that this ignorant nut-job is in a position of such power.
Of course, that also applies to the one who put him there.

This guy needs to stop stealing our oxygen. What an embarrassment to humanity.
Saying things like that is NOT OKAY. Well, unless you're a Faux News host, and you want to give lethal injections to poor people, then it's actually non-violence, because then your true motive is to stop violent crime. Oh and also if those same poor people die of fentanyl overdose instead it means they were VIOLENTLY MURDERED BY ILLEGALS. Why? PURE LOGIC, NO FEELINGS! Only libs make decisions on an emotional basis!

Gd fascist scum I'm so sick of this and we have at least three more years of it.

I'm not a vaccine denialist, but I am pretty sure people died from vaccine complications and we shouldn't treat that as a lie.
If this was true, you'd have proof. And anyone claiming something like this is doing so in bad faith. We do not have to acknowledge a damn thing about anti-vaxxer bad faith arguments.

I fear that such a concentration of idiots might cause a incredibly dangerous singularity. Odly enough those idiots will levitate above the event horizon, while the almost all of the people subjected to their decision, will be swallowed up.

Pardon my french but, what the fuck is wrong with you, US? 😞

Our Lord has given us a mission to share the gospel. If we live in fear of death, that weakens our testimony.

I know the current state of our country and I have an idea of how crazy RFK is, but I’m still shocked that this is what we’re placing on a medical science panel. This sounds like it came out of the Middle Ages, or from some Amish extremist.

I think I’m ready to move out of this country. I’m not a doctor – as far from one as you can get, actually – but when it gets to the point where I know I would do a better job than the country’s top vaccine panel, it’s time to go.

The real problem will be the innumerable baseless lawsuits against the vaccine manufacturers and providers. That's why the vaccine injury compensation program was established in the first place -- to prevent vaccine providers from being driven out of the market by endless plaintiffs (and ambulance-chasing lawyers) that claim some vaccination was responsible for little Johny's autism, and little Suzies heart condition, and Mr Brown's colon cancer.

FYI. The Colorado Governor working with the state health department issued a standing order to allow pharmacies to administer the updated Covid vaccines, following the current guidelines.

So, I was able to get the 2025-26 updated Moderna Covid-19 and Sanofi Flu vaccines this morning while grocery shopping. They were fully covered by insurance.

Only time will tell how this will all shake out for next year.

Tell us what makes these replacements viable AT ALL?

Lets say the last 17 all retired same day, whatever.

How are ANY of these replacements "good" choices?

Or next week. I'm fairly certain they're laying the groundwork to outright ban vaccines for all patients as if they were as dangerous as Thalidomide -- that's why they keep fabricating stories about "deaths from vaccines". A ban would bar the administration of vaccines to any patient, even in the states currently allowing it. And the Supremacy Clause would allow them to do this.

IMO COVID vaccines are just the start -- the antivax grift started before COVID was even a thing, they are absolutely looking to extend the vaccine bans to Measles vaccines, DTAP, and the rest.

And half of America will cheer them on, citing imaginary statistics showing that America is so much healthier now that all measles and COVID deaths have been reclassified as fishing accidents and therefore no longer count as disease-related.

It's only been eight months.

People are idiots, apparently.
Some people are idiots, we all know this. What the rest of us have to get through our skulls is that no matter how stupid an idea is, there are people who will vote for it en masse. The thinking population has to remember that they have to take action to stop idiocy from being in control. From Trump's first election to Brexit to the current freefall in to fascism both in the US and elsewhere, it was enabled because too many intelligent people didn't bother to vote, in part because they couldn't believe anyone was stupid enough to vote for the alternative.

Hopefully in the places where it will still be possible, people start realising this and vote these people out. Yes, even if you're not "inspired" by the candidate sitting for sanity or even disagree with their policies.

I'm not a vaccine denialist, but I am pretty sure people died from vaccine complications and we shouldn't treat that as a lie. The goal is that significantly fewer people should be harmed by the vaccine than would have been harmed by COVID-19 without the vaccine. To the best of my knowledge that is exactly what happened in practice.
Drinking water has killed people. Literally, several people have died from drinking too much water. Not joking about drowning, but actual water intoxication. It's a real but very rare and extreme thing. Do you think we need to go around telling people that water is dangerous and have a serious discussion on the risks of drinking water vs not?

Because that is the argument you're making.

Well, what a surprise. A first poster slinging a line of ridiculous bullshit.

Fortunately, this was the first and last commnet I'll read from you, as you're going straight to my ignore list.

and the source of your knowledge is? "pretty sure" does not sound like actual data. please clarify so i can compare that to the medical reports listing the number of covid cases.

The irony here is that's exactly what they're doing.

The people in the US most likely to DIE from an infectious disease are old fucks like me.

Restricting access to vaccines for everyone, as these fuckwits are doing, WILL KILL A LOT of old fucks.

Old fucks also make up about 60%-65% of the base that elected the fascists.

So they're literally setting up their voting base to die in the coming years. From a Darwinian point of view, I'm OK with that.

Fascist death by preventable diseases by the trainloads works in my book.
This is why no one is ever safe under fascism. It doesn't matter who you are or what you do or don't. Even if you think you are an essential cog in the machine. Especially really. No amount of keeping your head down can ensure you will not be targeted, either directly or indirectly.

First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist

Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist

Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist

Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew

Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me

At this point if you are republican your choices to justify it are moron, bigot or grifter. No matter what you pick you really hate the US and are ignoring the untold damage your politicians are inflicting and the massive cost of repairing it. When the overcorrection comes, republicans will receive their well deserved persecution.

What us sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

All these replacement panellists should be judged by the same criteria. Receiving just one penny for anti-vax advocacy or or anti-vax writing should equally bar them as compromised from serving on any vaccine advisory panel.
