I purchased this game last week and played through all the Citadel missions I could find. I put it down, and resumed my determination to finish Oblivion (at least the main quests). If I dive into yet another RPG, I'll never finish Oblivion. Can't wait to start back at Mass Effect. I may even start a new character so I can get the Scholar achievement.

Hang on to your Tungsten rounds (on normal I just left them in all the time, didn't bother to switch to Shredders since my weapons were high enough damage anyway). Snowblind rounds may be worth trying on one of your party as a nice support ammo.

I might just go with soldier so I can really mess things up while my team hangs back.

Quick question: what is the red light of death that periodically insta-kills me? Every once in a while an enemy hits me with a red light and my soldier just crumples to the ground dead.

I was fighting some Turians on the surface of a planet on foot for the experience points and I had to stay behind a cliff wall and only pop out for a second to take a shot with my sniper rifle before diappearing or they would insta-gib me.

I know Pirate Snipers and Geth Snipers both show the red beam before firing. Options for dealing with them include counter-sniping, DoT (incendiary ammo, warp, singularity), close the distance, disable (lift, throw, singularity), etc.

While certain fights in the game gave me nothing but trouble, to the tune of 6-20 reloads (6 or so for the "guy captured by biotics" fight, and 20+ for fucking Benezia), I still ended up raising the difficulty from normal to Veteran somewhere during Feros.

Now I am doing my second run on Hardcore (new character) and honestly I have to say I am not exactly having a horrible time. Yeah certain sidequests are tough, as the enemies can take a pretty large beating before going down, but the fights are still doable. Cover becomes crucial, as does more careful aiming.

My point being, you dont need to worry about it. For what its worth, my game is me as a soldier, Tali and Kaidan. If your hypothetical sentinel would have access to any weapons other then pistols, then I say go for it. There aint nothing wrong with stacking the same skills in this game, as anyone who has used "Lift" on an enemy, only to have a team-mate follow up with "Throw" will attest. My favorite moment in combat continues to be killing the first clone in the Thorian fight. Conversation ends, I Throw once, and she is tumbling ass over tea-kettle on her way down the pit.

Don't quote me on this, but I think I remember hearing about someone who couldn't actually get the last two charm/intimidate points to unlock even after getting the achievement when he used the Lorik Quinn loop. Just be warned that messing with the game like that might have consequences. If you just want the achievements, I would suggest saving before hand, getting the achievements, and then reloading your save.
