So…Daredevil.

I’d never seen the Netflix show before, but I enjoyed Murdoch’s appearance in She-Hulk, loved Kingpin in Hawkeye and Echo, and have read a lot of praise for the Netflix Daredevil show. With the new Disney show coming up, last night I figured I’d watch the first episode of the Netflix show.

What I found was a vigilante revenge fantasy, in which our white guy hero repeatedly righteously beat up black and brown villains who intended to harm our precious white women. It seemed super racist!

So my question is, does this ever change? Or does Daredevil remain a right-wing racist revenge show? Because no matter how well produced, I don’t think I’m up for such a show in our current political moment.

Yeah, if you liked the Kingpin in Hawkeye, you will be amazed by him in the Netflix Daredevil series.
There's this wonderful little nuance in the performance which means that, although he's terrifying, he's not entirely unsympathetic. D'Onofrio brings this quality that suggests
he's somewhere on the autism spectrum — like, he knows what he's supposed to do when interacting with people in a 'normal' environment, but he's not entirely sure why, or how to do it.

Looks to be as gritty as the Netflix series.

God.
Damnit.

I was done with Marvel, you hear?
Done!

I haven’t watched any of it beyond Endgame with the single exception of Shang-chi. None the films or shows.

THIS has me thinking that streak might end. I really enjoyed Daredevil and The Punisher. And Vincent D’Onofrio is a wonderful Kingpin.

Damn it.

I was done! You hear me! …. DONE!

Yeah, D'Onofrio just embodies Fisk in the series in a way that you forget he's acting and you get swept up in the nuance, even when he's chewing scenery.
A good actor knows when to chew scenery, and when not to. That's one of the things that makes D'Onofrio so good as Kingpin. Also, I got the feeling they may have digitally enhanced him slightly in Hawkeye. He's a big guy, but he looked more "Kingpin big" in Hawkeye than in the Netflix show (or Echo for that matter).

Finally got round to watching The Marvels. Absolutely worth it for the cat herding joke.

I'd love to see the team-up teased pre-credits too.
The Young Avengers is going to happen. At some point. Although they're not that young anymore, especially with aging up Kate to be a closer match to Hailee.

Saw this in the cinema — I never got the hate (apart from, y'know, the obvious) because I thought it was great. I mean, it's not going to change anyone's life, but it's really good fun and thoroughly entertaining, with at least a couple of proper laugh-out-loud gags.

I think that might be tonight's choice of movie sorted. :)

Yeah, I'd forgotten how fun Iman Vellani as Ms Marvel was, and they did a decent job of carrying that energy into the film.

Good to know the Young Avengers movie is happening though.

Hey, don't take my word for it. I have no sources, I'm just guessing, and maybe wishing really hard. But I do believe it will happen, even if everyone involved is in their 40s by the time Disney finally gets around to making it.

I want a show made with in an alternate universe made with AI where everyone has Rob-Liefeld-esque hallucinations.
Where Captain America's head is tiny compared to his enormous chest, everyone's wearing extra Batman-like tool belts, women don't have spines, and everyone's feet are off-screen?
