I really don't know why they exist at all...but for the price I'm so, SO tempted. Just because. I have no clue what I could possibly use them for. So I'm going to resist and not buy them.

I feel proud of myself now!

On the other hand...there might be a couple of things in the tools on that site that I might end up wanting. Damn you! :p

Here I was, all set to launch my bid to take over the planet - had the location of the volcano lair all lined up, schematics for the implants for my legions drawn up, Orbital Obedience Platforms modelled and tested at 1:1,000,000 scale - and wouldn't you know it, I have to put my invasion of Antarctica on hold due to the rising costs of the Implausibility chips I need to make it all happen. The timing is terrible! I expected to be Supreme Overlord of at least Venus by the end of summer, and now it looks as though that's not happening.

Have you looked into Unprobability chips? They are a smaller company, but the performance seems comparable, and the price is lower. You could probably knock 15-20% off the total cost on a bulk order. (By Grabthar's Hammer, what a savings) Alternately, and depending on platform, Notbloodylikely chips are really cheap these days, although the recent batch apparently has some logic gate errors for the batches made in the US.

Hopefully your plans aren't delayed too much. It's a rough market. If you make it to McMurdo, take some treats for the nice doggie at the station.

The cost savings on the Unprobability chips are certainly something to consider, even if it means some code conversion in the Loyalty subroutines has to take place. Hm. Those are a bugger to troubleshoot. And if it doesn't work out, then I could always fall back to plan 'B'; opening a Starbucks franchise on Europa. Sure, it may be a hundred years before other people make it there, but when they do, they'll have a wide selection of their favourite hot beverages and snacks ready and waiting for them!

Three (Europa) days later...there are now 5 new Starbucks locations within 2 blocks of yours. And 2 Tim Horton's. Ruling a planet is a tough job. (which is still a career worth pursuing, mind you...you seem more cut out for it than cough certain other folks)

I would rule as The Iron Fist In The Iron Glove, but benevolent as long as my mocha cappuccino was hot and on-time.

If anyone says "prices never go back down!" they are wrong! I buy spray paint regularly for my business and over the past 6 years, a can of spray paint went from $5, to $6.49, down to $5.99 and now its $5.86.
idk, I just find it so obnoxious when I regularly see people say "prices never go down!" when I regularly see just that happen.
That saying was never meant to be applied to individual items. Of course individual prices fluctuate - the grocery store has sales every week! The commodity markets and stocks fluctuate microsecond by microsecond.

It is very rare that overall prices (ie inflation) meaningfully go down.

White chocolate?!? You know that I ^require^ dark. Maybe if the world was in ruins and you could only find milk chocolate I might suffer that. But white? I'd rather chose death

I have never heard of murderbot. I initially liked the idea but was disappointed when they gave the robot a human face. It just no longer looks like a robot, but rather just an actor... which means it's just some guy.

So I am curious if in the books the murderbot is a robot, no human face/android and if the movie just chickened out.

Murderbot is part machine, part organic, but human-appearing enough to pass as human in some of the later books (after some modifications, IIRC).
