4.1.2 hit my Galaxy Tab 2 7 last week (Canada). I am really looking forward to 4.2 though, and hope it doesn't take too much longer (built-in swipe KB, user profiles, etc.).

The last sentence in the article is exactly why the SIII's Jelly Bean update is only available on Kies. Samsung's created a back-door service to get around the carrier's b-s approval process of firmware upgrades.

I have to say, the Jelly Bean update is the worst thing they happened to my Galaxy Nexus. It is slower, the unlock screen out right locks up, the Bluetooth fails randomly; I need to reboot the phone every day to keep it usable. Lets hope that it isn't the same for other hardware...

Mine (7" tab) was updated earlier this week. A little annoying to have all the buttons moved around, but at least it's a little harder to accidentally pull up the notifications. And they got rid of the pointless screenshot button.

Just got it on Tab 2 10.1 and I noticed significant change, the scrolling which used to stutter frequently is now almost completely smoothed out. Overall runs a bit more snappy and some of the lock screens and menus have changed.

4.1 hit my galaxy tab 2 the other week. Its generally nice, but why oh why did Samsung have to flip the order of the soft buttons ? Having to context switch my brain between samsung and the stock button order on my galaxy nexus is frustrating.

Over the years I've found that Android and iOS upgrades can occasionally cause issues that are solved with fresh installs. Maybe updating the kernel, rom, and modem while preserving data and installed apps caused a conflict somewhere. Not sure but it's worth a shot.
Alternately you could download one of the stock ICS roms and go back to the previous version if it still doesn't play nice for whatever reason.

seriously, is there any good reason for such flipping? I'm also not a fan of the new placement of the status and notifications. one always-present black navigation bar is enough for an operating system imo. hate having a second one added to it. And they took away the button that let's you minimize the keyboard. What a terrible idea! I've seen no performance change on my tab 2 7.0. All in all, not a big fan.agifford":1fgcwzfo said:

Having suffered with the Tab 2 10.1 for too long, I finally sold it for a song last month. The lag just kept getting worse, and sometimes it would slow to a crawl doing God knows what. I thought it likely that it would eventually get JB and "Project Butter," but I finally ran out of patience. The person who bought it for me sure got a good deal, though, if they know about this update.
