DHS is weirdly using import/export rules to expand its authority to identify online critics.

Why is it still called ICE and not SA as would be more appropriate?
I remember as a child being made to watch the TV movie remake "Shadow on the Land."because It Can't Happen Here.
* International border includes any port of entry, including any airport with international flights.
But the enlisted men and women seem to be more aligned with MAGA. Let's hope discipline remains and the generals do not take the illegal orders and the rank and file go along with it.Mainly because the US military lacks the authority to arrest people on US soil. What you want is for the local sheriff to arrest the fuckers and maybe for the governor to call out the National Guard to back up the sheriff.
They tend to be old-style Republican and are exceedingly reasonable (witness the group of generals currently trying to explain that invading Greenland is against international law and an attack on an ally and against the NATO treaty).
Similar sentiments here. I dare ICE to finally grow the cojones to come play in my backyard. It's probably the only major, deep blue metropolitan area they haven't hit yet, and boy would it be a wakeup call to some people who sorely need one.My username is msawzall across all platforms. I live in upstate NY. I have a government job. Look me up. And FUCK ICE! Come at me.
If history has taught us anything, Jews do their best to stay off lists. Nothing good comes from it.For context, under Trump enforcement of civil rights abuse claims has plummeted, the Department of Education is collapsing, there is a concerted push to discriminate against Trans people, fascist secret police are... well, operating openly and murdering people they don't kidnap, disappear, and rape... but it's super important for the administration to get a list of Jewish faculty to "protect them" from "antisemitism."
Funny you should mentionIf history has taught us anything, Jews do their best to stay off lists. Nothing good comes from it.
The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is demanding the [University of Pennsylvania] turn over names and personal information about Jewish members of the Penn community as part of the administration’s stated goal to combat antisemitism on campuses.
Is that an ableist statement? /s
Yep. That name bothered me right from day one. It reeks of 1938 Germany.
Exactly. If you don't want people posting your agency's crimes on the internet, don't let your agents commit crimes!Maybe ICE agents should not “assault, kidnap, or murder” their fellow American people and we wouldn't have this problem
Legally they can't, but because the democrats are so stupid, cowardly, and idiotic, they abdicated the rule of law to protect the guilty because they were more afraid of the optics of enforcing laws than of the consequences of aiding and abetting a fascist coup.I am still deeply confused about how ICE gets to go into communities wearing masks and hiding their badges in the first place? You should have to prove your authority before yoinking someone into a barely marked vehicle and racing away with them.
The current members of the US military are doing their level best to convince the nation to put an end to its military, because they're engaging in fascism instead of obeying laws.I had this dream/idea of an ICE raid happening in a city close to a large military base (think Delta Force), and the local commander decides that "enough is enough", goes rogue (defends the Constitution) and arrests the whole ICE horde in 30 seconds.
I know it will never happen, but it would be beautiful to watch these cowards crying mommy. One can dream.
(I also don't know where the average US serviceperson sits in terms of political affiliation. I am naively assuming most of them are reasonable.)
Legally they have no such right.Random question: If regular Joe's have no right to privacy in a public space, why do masked, armed thugboots?
When they're held accountable for their complicity with the fascist overthrow of the nation, and ongoing efforts to facilitate fascists overthrowing other governments around the world. Why is “weirdly” the adjective here? When will journalists stop being limp-wristed cowards and start calling fascism by its name?
Also, while I’m on a rant: stop using “falsehoods” and just say “lies.”
Nah. It's pretty clear that the only way American voters learn is from experiencing things themselves or through close friends and family.
When I read stuff like this, I notice a dichotomy in how the two parties are treated. Namely:Legally they can't, but because the democrats are so stupid, cowardly, and idiotic, they abdicated the rule of law to protect the guilty because they were more afraid of the optics of enforcing laws than of the consequences of aiding and abetting a fascist coup.
So now that they helped the coup plotters execute their coup, they're in hiding having done what their billionaire bribers paid them to do, and sit watching from the background until it's time to go begging for votes and donations again.
First thing that popped into me head:At this point, these cuck gestapo wannabees will treat anything as a threat:
- Cars: "I feared for my life"
- Phones: "I feared for my life"
- pants: "I feared for my life"
Their goal is to be allowed to shoot first... they wont even get to the "ask questions later" part.

These policies weren't in place anywhere that voted for the people currently in power.I don’t get the downvotes. The Democrats with their bad attitude towards enforcing common laws made a lot of people tired of petty crime and made them vote for the bad guys. At the same time, for all the democratic talk of helping the powerless who commit these crimes out of necessity, no material improvement was delivered to them, and the crimes keep happening, so no prevention and no enforcement takes place and less sophisticated voters get tired of calling cops for nothing and vote red.
While the Democrats have a long list of their own problems, it's not a fair argument that they did nothing when Republicans and MAGA have done everything in their power to prevent Democrats from doing anything that might actually help people. The Democrats should not weasel out of their responsibility, being compassionate and human should make you look for solutions, not avoiding enforcement because it impacts poor people disproportionately. If the laws are wrong, change them or challenge them in court, but skirting enforcement only feeds into the narrative of lawlessness and only hurts working people who cannot hire private security or move to fancy compounds or nice neighborhoods and have to deal with conflict and crime in the course of their daily affairs. Those are the voters who cannot take it anymore and vote red, that’s why you see GOP winning among Blacks and Hispanics, they suffered the consequences of lax enforcement everyday and got fed up.
Generally attributed to Winston Churchill."You can depend upon the Americans to do the right thing. But only after they have exhausted every other possibility." -unknown
The irony here is that any real law enforcement officer will tell you that "I feared for my life" is not sufficient justification for drawing a firearm, let alone firing it, and absofuckinlutely not firing first. In any remotely sane jurisdiction, that goon would now be detained, suspended pending discharge and looking at 10 years for murder and a bunch of other charges.
FFS even soldiers get rules of engagement stuffed into them until they're oozing out of their ears, and they're specifically not trained for law enforcement or dealing with civilians.
Sturmabteilung. Literally. Or ВЧК, it's hard to tell the difference from all the way over here.
Harry Dunn, a former U.S. Capitol Police officer who helped repel the rioting mob at the Capitol, told CBS News: "Given the pardons and appointments of people into this administration, lawlessness is not frowned upon but rewarded."
As far as I can tell, incorrectly. Or, at the very least, inconclusively. There's no record of him ever saying that, as far as I can tell, only people saying he said that without evidence, starting in the 70's. So, I'll stick with "-unknown"Generally attributed to Winston Churchill.
The vast majority of US service people, according to internal polls, signed up in order to get a college education. Others do it for patriotic reasons or because their parents/grandparents/etc. were in the military and thus it was expected of them.I had this dream/idea of an ICE raid happening in a city close to a large military base (think Delta Force), and the local commander decides that "enough is enough", goes rogue (defends the Constitution) and arrests the whole ICE horde in 30 seconds.

No, republicans are not blameless. Not being held accountable just keeps emboldening them, because refusing to hold them accountable is just like endorsing their criminal behavior. That does not make republicans blameless, it makes democrats guilty as accessories to their crimes. When I read stuff like this, I notice a dichotomy in how the two parties are treated. Namely:
Democrats: have choices, responsible for them, and even responsible for not stopping their opponents
Republicans: animalistic, just do stuff, can not be held accountable for what they do, blameless for any wrong doing because they should have been held accountable by others

There was a story many years ago about an ex-soldier, now LEO, who defused a situation when confronted with a guy with a gun instead of shooting him when the scofflaw didn't initially obey LEO commands. The ex-soldier was a combat vet who knew how to evaluate literal life and death situations. As a result, the ex-soldier got a dressing down. The irony here is that any real law enforcement officer will tell you that "I feared for my life" is not sufficient justification for drawing a firearm, let alone firing it, and absofuckinlutely not firing first. That's bullshit. It's an entirely fair argument, because it's true; when the dems have the majorities they focus on giving the republicans what they want, and when they have the minorities they focus on giving the repugnants what they want. While the Democrats have a long list of their own problems, it's not a fair argument that they did nothing when Republicans and MAGA have done everything in their power to prevent Democrats from doing anything that might actually help people. It really is sickening to hear Trump and all of his sycophants go on about how "the lunatic left" and "domestic terrorists" and whatever other boogey man of the day they've come up with are threatening brave law enforcement officers who are just doing their job or some other such hypocritical bullshit, when on day one - or as nearabouts as matters - Trump pardoned pretty much the entire Jan 6 crowd, including, ya know, actual violence against law enforcement.
From: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/house-democrats-trump-administration-jan-6-rioters-ice/
I'm not sure that's the case but there's a problem with lower courts ruling against the regime - every victory against the government slows everything down and gives DOJ and the six traitors on SC more time to hone their lies and get rid of the good guys still left.I wish John Doe success. But our system of government is now a fascist dictatorship. All US courts are kangaroo courts.
Does anyone know what ICE's actual authority is? I was under the impression they could only take action regarding federal immigration law, but here they are executing crowd control, warrantless searches and seizures, implementing traffic stops and checkpoints and assaulting protesters with chemical weapons.
Shouldn't the police at least be envious that these ICE upstarts are showing them up in terms of trampling of constitutional rights, unnecessary violence and plain murder?
The way it is going, I expect to be bankrupt by the end on the month...So ACLUs biggest donor by the end of the year perhaps?
So... in round numbers, only one person, Pamela Hemphill, just the one person out of over 1,500 participants in the Jan 6th assault had both enough brains, principle, and moral courage to reject Trump's mass pardon for the anti-democratic assault on Capitol Hill that Trump instigated. (That's less than a 1/10th of one percent.)

Meanwhile, at least thirty pardonees have been charged and/or convicted for new serious crimes since the Jan 6th violence, or even since the insurrectionist pardon.
According to a recent House Judiciary Committee report, these charges include sexual assault, child sexual assault, production and possession of child pornography, rape, conspiracy to commit murder of FBI agents, kidnapping, aggravated robbery, reckless homicide, driving under the influence causing death, illegal possession of firearms, domestic violence by strangulation, burglary, vandalism, grand theft, stalking, violation of protective orders, threatening public officials and drug trafficking.
